XP home edition has a built in firewall and so does XP pro i imagine. I have had xp for a year now and its the best i have had. Get xp rob at least you wont have to worry running a firewall from a company like mcafee or symantec its on 24/7.
Pro is more stable for gaming. Home has a tendency to crash and they also bug you with reminders.
Believe me guys i TRIED to convince my dad to get windows XP but he didn't listen to me. All he kept saying is that Windows 2000 is safer to use than XP.... then i tried explaining to him that 2000 and XP are basically still the same and XP just has more features.
He didn't listen of course and now im stuck with a RIPPED version of 2000. And im not about to throw out 300$ just to get XP for two reasons.....
1: I'll get a new copy of battlefield instead and try that. If it doesn't work i'll sell it to a buddy of mine a little cheaper.
2: I don't have that kind of money right now.
If you have a ripped 2000 why don't you get a ripped Pro
Because i can't find a ripped Pro!
Did you install the latest service pack for Win2k? if not you may want to give it a try since it fixes a lot of bugs.
Rob if by ripped you mean you didn't pay for the program then I wouldn't discuss it here, warez conversations are not tolerated no matter what the software is
300 bucks for XP? Are you outta your mind? I've seen the full version of XP Home for under 100 bucks (which is what I'm running on my home system). Been running it for over a year with zero issues. Sim City 4 is the only program that's managed to bring my PC to its knees.
Oh, and the built-in firewall in XP is worthless. Get yourself a copy of Norton IS or ZoneAlarm, something with some ability to protect your computer.

I'm just suprised I didn't catch this earlier.
Cmon guys, you know that Warez isn't allowed here.
