Hi, im a newbie to the msg board and im going to get BF1942 in about a week for mah B-day. I read teh recommended requirments for the game and mine go above them, but im not sure still because i may get slowdown online. MY basic specs are:

512 ddr Geforce 2 MX 400 1.8 Ghz Processor

Internet speed: 512k ADSL.

I'm Sure alot of you play the game, duhr, but will my specs be enough to play online? What game settings will my pc handle? And will i be able to play in 64-man servers?

Answers to my questions will be apreciated :deal:

Yea thats good enough cuz thats about what a have on my bad computer but it still runs great.... just stay away from DC because it lags alot, but EoD runs fine. I have to keep my graphic settings to medium or it will lag and the map will take a LONG time to load. 64 player servers lag sometimes but it mostly depends on how you set up your video and audio settings. Hi ZeRo[UK,

Welcome to the forums.

You do meet the min specs, however you will have to turn your graphics settings down quite a bit to get a decent framerate from your Gf2 MX400 vid card. A new vidc ard will make the game look much better and play much smoother. You may have trouble with 64 player servers when they are full (not because of your connect speed, which is fine, your vid card will have problems handling the load) but the lower count servers should be fine.

Have fun and remember to ask here if you have any probs

Everything you listed sounds fine, exept your video card, that is gonna slow you down. I reccomend a ATI 9700 PRO or higher, this way when HL2 comes out, you will be set for both games.

If you can't get a new card right now, turn down your graphic settings to gain some FPS. The game will look like azz, but you will be able to play.

-good luck

Ah thank you for that, even though your "bad" pc is equivelant of mine, you still made my day. And thank you for welcoming me to the forum matey :) I best get a new graphics card then. I hear the Geforce FX prices have shot down a HELL of alot? Any recommendations for a n00 graphics card?:)

My mate has a geforce 3 TI. And a BIT more Ram than me and his bf1942 runs perect on 64 man servers. And at the moment i aint got a part time job, so no cash in hand. I know Geforce 3 Ti's are not being produced anymore (ive been told anyway, so dont flame me) but im sure i can pick one up somwhere. All i need to know is the cost, anyone know? In Pounds. (Or whatever currency your region runs at). Tar.

Hi ZeRo[UK,

If you are going the FX route I would suggest the FX5600 128Mb as a good starting point. The FX5200 is not a great performer as far as FPS is concerned (but it's gonna beat your GF2 MX for sure). You should be able to pick up a generic FX5600 for around 100 pounds or so. Otherwise go for the ATI 9600 as a entry level Radeon. Sure you can't beat the ATI 9700 PRO or the FX5900 Ultra, but the cost is way too much.

Have fun
