I'm a bit confused on your method Krom. I have only my 1.2 installation, the merciless 3.6 addon installed, merc bob texture pack, merc texture pack installed. that's all. I want to be able to use skins as well.

On step two, you say "2. Open the mod and extract the texture.rfa file with an rfa extractor. (as you did with the games .rfa)"

Now are you referring to the texture.rfa located in "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives"?

<~ Lost.. but we all start somewhere..

Baseline - if you have mercs TextureSets installed all the hard work is done! You can add any skin to any level just by dropping the relevant .dds file into the relevant TextureSet folder.

Eg. You want a different Panzer IV skin for Market Garden.

1.Extract your texture.rfa from C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives (As you said in your post)

2.Find the P4Main_f.dds texture & edit it as you want it to look. (I am assuming that you know how to do this btw!)

3.Copy your edited/saved P4Main_f.dds into C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\TextureSets\BF1942\Market_Garden

That's it! Your panzer skin will now show up in Market Garden.

(If you need anymore help with this mail me here mail@mdaws.freeserve.co.uk)

Hope this helps.

:)

 MC texture set mod has texture set for each individual map so adding new texture is piece of cake.but you need three things

1 Windows XP or 2000 with the NET framework runtime installed 2 The RFA extractor util 3 MAKERFA beta DOS util use the uncompressed file function

Pick the texture map unextract using RFA extractor to a hard drive root dir i.e g:\work And what I do now is move all the subdirectories into the Root like this G:\work\Africa Pacific Russia paste the new skin *.dds in run MAKERFAbeta and at the ROOT name question enter "texture" without the "" and then at the Name question enter "texture" again and No at the compression question and press enter The util will now make a new RFA file and you should find it in your MY documents dir The backup your original and put it somewhere safe and paste inthe new one or you could I suppose just rename the original *.dds and leave it in the RFA ,and because its not recognised it be used.In anycase your set to go:cya:

Why do you convert your extracted .dds files back to a texture.rfa ?

TextureSets recognises .dds files in each of its level folders so save yourself some work!

 Your probably right about that, adding edited textures into a level folder as *.dds files is tons easier as long as you back up any files your replacing ,many thanxs to Merciless!
