I've been playing with bc42 trying to mess around with some maps and I was wondering if anyone else on this forum had done the same. The trouble is I seem to be having some problems which are either bugs/flaws in the map ed, or my own stupidity (probably more the second!:p ).

Firstly the Out of Bounds terrain paint, well that's all very well but on the african map I painted it on it turned all the Out of bound territory into 'wet grass' which looks stupid in a battle taking place in a desert river delta....well I would have let that pass but...then I realise that when I level terrain near the edge of the map (making it lower) I end up with a 'vertical cliff' which I can't level and it completely ruins the edge of the map (does that make sense?) other problems? the occasional crashing while it's doing the land render thing but I don't mind that I save a plenty.

The other thing is that with this new map ed we'll start to get more maps sent in which are basic to say the least so I was wondering if bf1942files had a policey on files....Ie, they must look proffesional....

 I wish. I've seen so many bad files strewn across the Files Network sites. You should go check out JK2Files.com sometime. There's a million and one awful player skins, and I mean awful.

Ive been working with BC, and ive got the hang of it I think. I'll spent time mastering a specific task; terrain editing and texture mapping, accurate object rotation, working with water and using props to add charater and life to the map. I'm working on my first map right now. I was a slow start, but its getting easier. Good luck with your maps.

To you too mr Jackson. Well perhaps you can tell me how the placement of carriers and browning machine guns work, becuase when I placed a carrier, when I tested it on the map the planes were not in the right position and it looked silly. My browning I put on a watch tower wasn't in the right place either....but other than that it looked alright

I haven't messed with the carrier's yet, but ive had trouble with placing the browing and mg42 also. I'll keep looking into it, because i know i'll have to deal with the issue sooner or later. If i have any luck i'll let you know

Have you gone to the "tools" menu pull down and selected "generate surface maps"?

and let's not forget you can go to terrain painter and paint individual squares to what you want them to be (highly useful!)

Sorry, I forgot about that. Very handy. If all else fails, print out the user guide and tutorials. I did. They are actually very helpfull:deal:
