baught rtr today, completely dissapointed, there is nothing that is a whole lot better about it, accept lightweight bombers. the maps are much larger in some cases, but the transportation is sparce and therefore you end up spending half your time walking across the map. all in all, this is about half the content i expected to spend my 20 for. oh, and for some reason it only let me play my maps in some screwed up order. i had to play one in order to play another one- anyone else have this problem? out- hort
I actually love RTR. I never had a problem of finding a ride and the maps are well put together in my book.
(Copied from another thread)
I think it's well worth the money, the new maps are well designed. Especially that night one, the combination of thunder and artillery shells exploding all around you....all the while not being able to see the enemy except for muzzle flashes...is fking awsome! The only thing it needs is it pouring down with rain....then it'll be perfect!
Some people say DICE should have released it for free, Well you don't make a living in life by giving away things for free.... The Total Anialation makers gave things away for free, units etc. ...wonder we're they've gone?
I disagree on the transportation thing though, i've noticed the larger maps have plenty of jeeps and tanks. At the most i've only had to walk between flags that are next to each other.
The Expansion has exactly, and more what was advertised.
"this is about half the content i expected to spend my 20"
So your saying you didn't read, or find out one thing about the expansion? It got quite alot of media attention, especially from Gamespy. I suggest you get back from under your rock, because nearly everything that was included in the expansion has been know for quite some time.
Hey man, I haven't played it yet but I'm going to buy it today. If you think $20 dollars is bad for an expansion then you gotta be kidding me. Go out and buy Yuri's Revenge for Red Alert 2. That's the definition of a piece of SHIT expansion. BF1942 4 life!
wel cavedog is no more but i heard they are working on Total Annihilation 2 actualy.
I bought mine today, installed it and although I knew there'd be only two new guns not including the bayonets WHICH's are close combat weapons,I still would have been more gratefull for a M1 carbine ,a M3 greasegun or even a portable MG42.The maps are not a dissapointment, the one called Operation Husky is another gigantic one,get it and see for yourself.thats all for now :cya:
/me goes out and picks up a copy :D
Devoured check out www.gamingbattleleague.com TA online... gotta love underground followings.
Now, as for this expansion, they really havent refined the game, and they made an expansion... Well, honestly, Ill just download the individual maps, and im sure someone will just make a mod to be able to play RtR style.
Bad customer respect to expect more money for an unfinished product...
any game that you buy usually takes some patching before it gets to be really good. as time goes along, there are little quirks and issues that get picked up due to the massive amount of diversity in computer systems.
one thing i know, is that while with most games i've played, it took FOREVER to get it to be worth playing, if anyone had played Operation Flashpoint or C&C Renegade, you might know what im talking about, anyways, BF has been out since sept., not that long ago, and its been patched 3 times. the guys at dice really are trying to get it to be perfect, meanwhile, keep in mind that no game is perfect, but bf is damned great.
of course no game will ever be perfect, but to call the game unfinished is just ridiculous, in fact, i'd like you to list the things that make u feel that this is an unfinished game. the 1.3 patch fixed the only problem i had with it, problems with my sb live! card. if your connection and specs are up to par, you should hardly have a complaint, if not, then you know why ur having a problem
if bf were unfinished, the how ever many thousands of people on gamespy would be morons. i beta tested this game back in the summer of last year, and let me tell u, it has improved EXPONENTIALLY, if you had experienced it you would really appreciate the finished product we all know and love
and also, i doubt that ull be able to dl the individual maps, its REALLY BAD business to allow someone to offer for free anything that you make to sell, i dont think anyone would like the idea of EA's attorneys breathing down their necks for offering the same thigns as the exp. pack for free
just got back from a trip so i hadnt had time to respond to any of these. Yes i read about the expansion before i bought it, i didnt read many good reveiws, but i also take all that with a grain of salt because until someone has played it, they really dont know that much about it, noone i read had actually played the expansion. nyway, that all aside, i would like to remind you all of a game in our not so distant past, RTCW in this game the expansion only consited of maps, but had about 20 of them that were darn good. It was also free to download online or for first time buyers is was pakaged in the goty addition. Another thing about wolfenstien is that when it was released it was a near perfect game. most of what the patches covered was addon stuff that was cool, but did nothing to upgrade or downgrade the integrity of the game. also it had a real single player mission based game pakaged with it, this all came for the same price as battlefeild. Dont get me wrong, i love battlefeild despite its quirks and even though i cant play multiplayer right now cause of the patch problems, i still play with bots. it is a much deeper look at war than the games that came before it. i just think there is room for improvement. out- hort
