Ok, we have seen two free additional maps lately that were added to BF1942 (these being Coral Sea and Aberdeen) but wouldn't it be nice to have EA create a mappingcontest similar to the thing Valve did for CS?
Lets say the top 5 maps would then be added to the next patch of BF1942 or they could be brought out as an official mappack, freely downloadable for all people.
The reason for this idea I have is that there are a lot of very good custom maps out there that will never be played by as many people as they should. This because of the fact that they only run on a limited number of servers since they are not officially supported.
I think that a map creating contest would be good so that the bad maps could be screened out. So you dont download 5 and only be able to use 1 or 2. This would also get more people to play the better map because it would become offical. I also think that EA should help the creator of the winning map so that the map will playable in single player mode and more of the online modes.
it would be a great idea!
Excellent idea =) It would put some fans up on EA's pedistal! The winning map could be officially published and whatnot, and maybe the developer would get access to the SWoWW2 beta.
the patch sure will be big. oh well most of you have broadband so you can get it in a jiffy! i still suport the consept. it will also encourge the people to make better maps because this time they get credit for what their doing.
hey good idea chief, im 100% positvie there would be some great maps that would come out of the contest.
Great idea, have you mentioned it to anyone at EA?
Mmm that wouldn't be a bad idea Vanthem. Maybe someone could host a petition that we could then all sign?
If someone could do this or could tell me how to do it myself then that would be great, I have no experience with such matters.
It's time for EA and DICE to get really (back) into touch with the community.
I think EA's going to be a little petitioned out for right now, heh. But some emails mentioning it couldn't hurt. You should also pass the idea along to Noodle, he ought to be in touch with Mike from EA and could make the suggestion that way too.
Mmm not a bad idea, I'll email my good old buddy Noodle :)
