Is it possible to fly a helicopter without a joystick or do you really need one.

I mean fly and hit a target at the same time....

you dont need one to fly well, i can fly quite well without, but its a bit easyer to hold the chopper steady using a joystick while shooting at enemies.

I have never used a joystick and I do quite well flying any chopper. However, I have heard that it is much easier to use the joystick, so I think I will try it out sometime. But yes, it is very possible to play without...

Hi,

I prefer the joystick, it's much easier than with mouse keyboard combo for me. but given enough practice I suspect you could get quite good without joystick.

have fun

I have a basic MS joystick, about $35AU, I was going to get a logitech but they sold out and I couldn't wait. You don't need a fancy one, but one with a throttle helps a great deal.

Thanks I am also looking into the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS Joystick (USB)

$250.00, but it is built from metal and looks real nice! I can't fly with the keyboard, I always crash so I will try joystick now

See ya on the field

why waste your money on a $250 joystick when you can get a real nice one for way cheaper. or you could use that money to upgrade your computer elsewhere. you dont need a fancy joystick for battlefield b/c it's not a hi-tech flight sim.
