My joystick does not have a throttle sliding switch. Holding the W key down all the time is a pain. Is there a workaround so you can set the engine power level and let it stay there till you accelerate or decelerate? :uhm:

You have a firm grasp of the obvious, that is not what I asked. I have a wingman logitech digital joystick but it does not work well with BF1942. I have a second USB joystick that works except for this feature. I don't need a third GD joystick even at $20. Thanks for nothing.

Nope there aren’t any options to select a key that will give you one-touch engine controls.

I know you don't want to hear this but you may want a 3rd.

Although my Wingman Attack worked well, but I got another one because it didn't have any rudder controls.

Not to sound like a sales man, but try checking out the Cyborg Gold by Sietek, ITS GREAT, adjustable for right or left gaming, has the slider, Z axis, 11 buttons and is reaaaally comfortable...

Only thing the game itself needs is a deadzone control...

Please excuse me, but it's rash to assume that we know everything about your controller situation. I don't think Gibgon was being a smart-ass (at least that I can tell), but rather giving you an option you may not have realized. That being said, here are a couple of ideas...

A very simple and cheap way to go would be to place and object on the throttle key. On another game I had, I used a pinball placed on a key to keep it depressed :) But I am trying to remember a piece of software that allowed a user to desginate keys as toggles (meaning hit once for on, hit again for off). I will look for it and let you know if I find it.

As long as we are talking about joysticks, I highly recommend the Saitek X45. It runs a hefty $80 (US), but I bought one for my dad for christmas. We are both avid flight-sim junkies, and I have yet to play on a better joystick/throttle combo. Here's a pic:

I also have played Quake for years. In one of the mods I play Weapons Factory Arena the Recon class can fly through the air with jet boots. There is a short script to toggle on and off the jets boots so you don't have to hold the key. I don't know 1942 that well and was looking for some workaround of that sort. I guess it is not possible with this game engine. Thanks.

...which brings up another good question I've been meaning to ask, can you even script in BF1942?
