if you're using the keyboard, like me, when you're just starting off, it helps to know that you have to know to use the asdf keys and the arrow keys. i couldn't figure that part out for the longest time. once you can master flying, then worry about firing missles.

i never use the mouse. i find using the arrow keysf far more stabler

I am not the best, I still have trouble hovering and landing sometimes, but what helped me the most was to look at helicopters as more of a slider than a banker. I use a joystick and use the twisting motion (same as rudder on the airplane) to point it where I want to go. Once you get it turning, you will need to counter the turn to go streight. When your nose is pointed downward you move in the direction you are pointed and to stop, pull back and nose dips up. If you move the joystick left and right like you do when you bank an airplane, the helicopter will start to roll, this is what usually messes me up trying to regain control on this one. I am getting better. I hope this helps.
