Just wondering if anyone here has ever played the awesome Unreal4Ever mod on Unreal Tournament? I cannot stress how fun and innovative that mod was. I feel that if someone could translate the concepts, weapons, and classes of that mod and expand on it for Battlefield 1942 then this would be a mod to be reckoned with (at least for us who also like non-realistic war action). Check the weapons out (50+) that could be placed into this Battlefield mod: http://www.planetunreal.com/u4e/U4E_Docs/U4E-Docs.htm http://www.planetunreal.com/u4e http://www.pcgr.com/reviews/Unrealmods/product_1102.asp
Here's a brief rundown of all the classes in U4E: The Soldier The soldier is the basic all-around kind of guy, like WFUT’s Marine. Mr. I-can-do-everything-by-myself-or-die-trying. He doesn’t shine or lack in any specific area, and is a good character to start with. The Soldier starts with a knife, an AK47,000, a True 8-ball, and Power Grenades for his weapons. He gets 20 extra health. His special move is throwing a Power Grenade. I know, nothing too great but you can throw that and a hand-held one right after, which can make a good surprise move. The Cyberknight The Cyberknight is a futuristic medieval knight. Say what? Well, he is a knight but he starts with a Lightsword, a “cybershotgun?E(which is really just a U4E SPAS), a plasma cannon and some plasma grenades. He starts with light armour but is very vulnerable to energy attacks. He has an extra 10% to speed but can not use any health at all, so be careful. The Demolition Man The Demolition Man is on the lookout for Simon Phoenix, head of the.... Oh.... THIS Demo man... U4EF Demo Man is every bit as deadly, packing a Vulcan, a Fourball (drunk missile launcher) and cluster grenades. He starts with 50 extra health but has a speed reduction of 33%. His special move is a detonation pack that destroys special walls and barriers created by Fortress players. Meaning you can destroy created brick walls, not level architecture. My opinion: too slow, but makes an excellent base defender especially with his Vulcan. The Chemist Did you blow up the chem lab? Don't know your grade cause the teacher hasn't come down from the sky yet? Yeah, this guy flunked too. He starts with a freezer, a flame/freezethrower, a shrinker, and some poison and napalm grenades. Takes only 50% damage from fire, ice, slime and poison (working around chemicals all day every day gives you something of an immunity from it) His special move is a Disease Vial. It is totally indistinguishable from a real health vial until you pick it up, then you quickly die. Tip: put this thing in among other vials. Simply putting it out in the middle of nowhere, or worse, in a map with no vials at all, will probably be very suspicious looking! My opinion: Good class, has good weapons and combined with sneaky special move, makes a great annoyance. The Scout Get in, look around, and get out. That's a scout, he scouts. He's a quick one to have to deal with, having a 33% increase in speed (he is twice as fast as a Demoman.) He starts with a knife, a python pistol, a quicksilver, and 8 flash grenades, however he only has 60 health. His special is a flash grenade. He is the only class that has a Translocator. My opinion: if you like speed, he’s your man. Otherwise he has nothing you want. The Spy The spy, the undercover man, the one who sneaks past enemies without them ever knowing... or that’s the idea... He starts with a knife, an uzi, an M16, and normal and flash grenades. He can slip into the shadows by standing still for a few seconds rendering him mostly invisible. He has no change to speed, armour or health. His special moves include backstab, shadows, disarm traps and change uniform color. I've never been able to backstab or disarm traps, but changing uniform color is interesting. My opinion: Excellent stealth class. Rumour has it is real name is S. Pion Aj. (Espionage.... geddit... yeah, I'll stop now.) [Bean: Agh!] The Way of the Kensai Note: treat all stats as if Kensai were holding Katana. Kensai-san is ruler of ninja ways. Kensai-san immobilize you, then cut you into ribbons faster then you can blink. Kensai-san start with Katana, 12 web grenades and 4 napalm grenades (something Sensei didn't teach him apparently). He has a 75% speed boost, and can't use armour. He also makes a lousy flagrunner as he continually drops it (they had to balance the huge speed boost somehow) However, he is great for catching enemy flagrunners and making mincemeat out of them. He can go into the shadows with the help of the Katana. I don't remember his special (hey it's a big mod!). The Sniper If I gotta tell you what a sniper is for, perhaps Fortress shouldn’t be your first stop, and you might wanna play some more vanilla UT first. He starts with only 70 health and a 25% speed drop. He has an UT sniper rifle, a Fleshbomb Rifle (I think they finally fixed the zoom problem on it) and some regular grenades. His special move is a beartrap. This drops his victims speed to about 1/10 normal for a few seconds if it latches on to them. The Archer Now this guy is interesting! Straight out of the Medieval Times, he, like the Cyberknight, has seen the future and brought some of it back with him to the present (this guy's just all over the place, isn't he!?). He has a bow (NO REALLY?) with six different arrow types: regular, dynamite, poison, fire, quantum and plasma arrows. He also has an axe, and some spiderbombs and nailbombs. He has decrease of 10% to speed, but swims, jumps and sprints better then any other class. His special move is about 4x zoom, to represent his extremely good eyesight (how else do you get to be an archer?) My opinion: Can be an extremely fun class to play but you better be accurate cause his arrows take a while to fire and load. The Cleric The cleric is a healer, spellcaster (not like the Wizard, which is coming up shortly) and fighter all in one. He does none of them exceptionally well, but does them all reasonably well. He starts off with a Crom Faeyr and Pyrcor (Lightning and Fire Hammers), a purifier*, and a Medigun. He is immune to lightning. He has a decrease of 5% speed. His special is a prayer to his Gods which heals 100 health. This can affect teammates if they are right next to you too. This also affects enemies so make sure you are alone or with your team when you use the prayer so you don't help the enemy! He can also use a Holy Hand Grenade, only available through the Scientist's creations. *The Purifier has a secret attack (which isn't really secret if you read documentation). Altfire fires out little yellow spheres of light that will illuminate your target for approximately 0.6 seconds after impact. If you hit your target with a primary shot while your target is lit up, a huge beam of light will come down from the sky and incinerate your target resulting in instant death. It’s an instant kill but hard to pull off consistently. The Scientist Speaking of which, it's Mr. Fixit himself. The Scientist can be an extremely valuable member of your team. He starts with a phasor, a zapper, a construction gun and an Inventor. The Inventor can conjure up various items for your team, but you can only create items corresponding to the team members?Eclass. Therefore if you do not have a scout on your team, you can not create a Golden Python, and even if you could, no one but a scout could use it anyway. Inventions come at a cost of 50 health and 100 power cells. Last of the Regular Classes: The Crusader The Crusader is like the barbarian-type class: big and strong and hurts you real bad. He starts with an Axe, an Xdisc (please change the damn death message on that), a Double-Barrel Sawed-Off Shotgun (O_o) and some web grenades. He has +30% health and takes 1/4 damage from melee and decapitation damage, and has +15% speed but is very slow in water. He starts with armour. His special is a shield that drastically reduces damage taken, and if angled right, can totally negate grenades that have been tossed as proxy mines (I'm always bouncing off of Web Grenades like this). This is the single best shield I've ever seen implemented. And Finally...The WIZARD I have no idea where to start. This guy is so totally badass, he puts the other classes to shame, if you can level up high enough. Sure, he starts off like a stupid little 98-pound weakling wizard, but if he gets up one or two levels, run, because he will get more, and you will be in a load of trouble. He starts with just 70 health, his staff and three spells, but if he can get some levels up, he's going to learn a lot more spells, and his current ones are going to hurt a lot more. To pick your spells, hold down your Special key and left-click to choose your primary spell, and right-click to pick your second spell. You have 4 hand configurations, with 2 spells each, so you can set up to 8 of your favourite spells. Some of them can only be assigned to the staff, on slot 1, so that's a total of 9 spells you can use at a time. The interface is really, really hard to get used to but when you do, it's amazingly easy to whip your way around and eventually you will learn what spells are in what school, and you'll know exactly where to go and get set up in no time. I won't nearly describe all the spells, rather I'll describe just a couple of schools of magic to pique your interest: High Magic This is magic that messes with your mind. Spells like Vanish which whip you out of a sticky situation to a random place on the map (and possibly into a worse one!) Spells like Plasma Dust which pelt your enemies with a gentle yet nasty storm of plasma bolts. Spells like...No I can’t give away the most powerful spells; you’re just going to have to go find them out yourself. :P Dark Magic I don't mean some other magic mod that seems to have dropped off the face of the earth but rather, the tools of the Necromancer. Staple spells like Raise Dead which raise zombies from corpses (bNoMonsters needs to be set to FALSE for this to work!) Staple spells like Vampiric Blast. At level 18 this spell is ridiculously powerful (but good luck getting there.). Fire Magic Of course, if you’re just a damned little pyromaniac, specialize in some Fire magic. Firestorm has to be one of the better spells. It sends out four bolts of fire that cause the surface it touches to erupt in flames (as if multiple Napalm Grenades had just gone off.). There is also fireball, which sends out a fireball of course, and Incinerate, which requires a target lock to work. Get one, and fire the spell, your target immediately catches fire and usually dies.
I'd like to also add that Action Battlefield has some concepts that would blend well with Unreal4Ever and make a killer mod. Of course some wild, outlandish vehicles would also have to be added to this and the characters would be better off as all humans instead of the weird alien models used in Unreal4Ever. If only I were a modder. Sigh.
