I was wondering, casue i dont mind putting graphics down but what hardware processes bots. I want an AMD ATHLON xp2000+, with an geforce 4 mx440, anything wrong with that video card?? With 512ddr ram. I am willing to put graphics down becasue bf1942 graphics are so sweet on low settings , and run it at 1024x768, but i am wanting 64 bots with minimum of 20fps framerate, will this rig do that??

What affect framerate with bots (hardware??)?

Thanks

ps, i dont want to spend heaps on a pc if it doesnt run it as i want it.

all is good, but the card would be straing to do that. I have one, but you would be better off to get at least a 9000/9500pro or ti series. Thats if your on a budget. If you can shell out the extra 150 or so, get a 9700, your 64 bots would thank you over and over!

Hi kalashnikov,

I have Athlon 2200+, 768MB DDR SDRAM, SB Live 5.1, GF4 MX440 64Mb DDR, and it runs very nicely with 64 bots thanks. Even when surrounded by all 32 bots on my side I still get just under 20fps, with just me and a few bots protecting a bunker it sometimes gets over 50fps, by myself 60+, that was in Desert Combat on El Alamein. Your CPU is crucial where bots are concerned, even just changing from a 2000+ to 2200+ I noticed a big jump in fps with 64 bots. Your vidcard will manage fine, specially if you haven't got the graphics turned all the way up (I have grpahics all the way up but no AA or AF), but you CPU will be stretched, and if you turn the bot AI down to take the load off they start behaving like kangaroos with pogo sticks up their bums.

So, more CPU, leave vid card as it is, 512 is enough memory.

have fun

:cya: :cya: :cya:

P.S. a few other things, don't under any circumstances get the GF4 420MX, get the 440 or 460, and avoid the SDR models, get the one with DDR mem.

hmmm, apocalypse kid, i always have mine on the default 20% setting for bot cpu usage, they still dont behave like a chicken with its pants pulled up too far and look fine, so is that setting gonna crunch the cpu????
