Have ADSL in the building and it’s a fast one apparently. Could someone tell me how to check my speed?

Also I have high ping when updating the multiplayer server list. At the end of my tether and I know it’s an internal problem. I think someone please help.

if you want to test your speed goto http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ and scroll down to Try a Free Test.

I agree with R2D, if your sound, graphic cards sucks or not much RAM it might be cause of that not cause of low net speed. whats the game like in single player with bots?

Are you sure it's ping related? Sounds like that isn't the problem considering your speed. Probably a bad frame rat due to a number of different things, or the servers you are seeing are across the globe or just might have a bad ping themselves. Heavily populated servers naturally have higher pings, along with official ones...

Do you have the DSL box ticked in the BF42 internet menu? I think DSL is the default setting though. What is your ping whe you join a game? My ingame browser pings seem high too, and not accurate at all. I use The ALL Seeing Eye to find games, instead of the inferior BF42 ingame browser. The ALL Seeing Eye gives you pretty accurate pings, plus a lot of other nice features like filtering out servers from other countries. IMO your hardware would not affect your ping times too much or at all. Like said in the post above this one, could be that you are too far away from most servers.

check for viruses. check your drivers. see the records of your ASDL company. and if all else fails just get a new provider

Sounds like it might just be your computer. Post your system specs and you will get better feedback on the problem.

Cheers for the feedback. Turned out to be the computer wiz in the building messing about with something. Getting a faster connection I think.

Should be good. Thanks again.
