HkEndor -=A Non-Official Map For the Modification Galatic Conquest=- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ http://www.fileplanet.com/files/120000/129029.shtml
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CONTENTS: 1. Introduction. a. Installation. b. FAQ. c. Disclaimer. d. Credits. e. Known Bugs
1. HkEndor is a small map with 3 capture points, the map is set for Conquest BUT runs like a TDM Conquest cross breed, if you capture the middle base, no one will lose tickets BUT you can spawn in the middle base. If you happen to capture all 3 bases, the other team's tickets will rapidly fall until the remaining forces capture a base, if you eleminate the remaining forces the tickets will drop like a rock and you will win. The map is a small map, has no aircraft but does Have Walkers and Turrets, the map is small enough so there will be some tight firefights with lasers going left and right.
A. Installation. To install this map, take HkEndor.rfa and extract it to your Galatic Conquest's map directory, EXAMPLE: C:/programfiles/eagames/battlefield1942/mods/gcmod/archives/bf1942/levels
Installation is a breeze, once you have the map in the folder, fire up BF1942, load GC and either join a game that has my map running or create your own server with the map.
B. FAQ: 1. Does this map support SP? A. No. 2. Isnt GC gonna release an Endor Map? A. Yes I believe so. 3. Then why did you make this map? A. Because the GC mod community is crying out for a new map. 4. Why make this map? A. I made this map for two reasons, 1. Was because we need a new map in GC, 2. Was because the map Hoth is so big, that all the action is spread to far out, it's fun to play but all it turns out is a Snow Speeders VS Tie Fighter war with maybe six foot soldiers on each side running around, after a while that gets boring. 5. Are there any secrets, easter eggs on this map? A. Yes one or two. 6. Will you tell us what they are, where they are and how I can get to them? A. No, No and no. 7. Will you ever tell us? A. Probally not ;)
C. Disclaimer. I, HkSniper am not responsible if this map happens to cause A. Harm to your Machine (Which it should not anyways, dont know why but if it does it was probally an error on your side ;) ) B. Harm to your Galatic Conquest Mod or C. Harm to Battlefield 1942. This map was made solely for a FREE DOWNLOAD. YOU MAY NOT SELL THIS MAP IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM. This map is also property of ME. You MAY do the following with the map. A. PLAY THE MAP. B. HOST THE MAP ON YOUR SERVER. You may NOT do the following: A. EDIT THE MAP IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. violators caught breaking any of this will have action set onto them.
D. Credits: Snake101st for giving me some ideas. BF1942 Community for thier support. GC mod for well, making the GC Mod :) And for you for downloading my map, enjoy!
E. Known Bugs: 1. Grey box around trees: Some trees had grey boxes around them in my beta testing stage, I do not think there are trees like that in the map still, but I might of missed one or two of them. 2. AT STs not respawning: I have tried and tried to get these things to respawn, but they do not seem to want to, So use the ATSTs wisely, I am sure that if a base is capture ATSTs will Appear, so each time a base is capture, a new batch of ATSTs will form. 3. No other known bugs but I Might of missed a few, I will be playing in servers with my map, so if you see me in game and found a bug, tell me. My Ingame name is HkSniper.
-=Thanks for downloading my map, I hope you enjoy it! May the Force be with j00 ;) =-

Took a look at the map. Interesting. Lots a trees and a low fps, heh. Gotta expect that I suppose. One thing that was weird was that spawning as the empire, there was a selectable flag that was neutral, and you couldn't spawn at it because of this. Someone else had this problem with a map, don't know what you do to fix it though. Also, the flags didn't have the "power beam" when they were taken by one side, was this intentional? You can hardly see where the flag is otherwise.
One thing I noticed while walking the catwalks was that if you jump while you're on it, you get flung high in the air.
Got courage? Beta test my map, get it here Welcome to Bluie West 8. Yes, it is spelled that way, don't ask me why. This is a war of attrition map - no ticket loss except on player deaths *until* one side eliminates all spawn points for the other team, kills all enemy players, and captures Bluie West 8, which can only be done by submarine, see strategies section. Anyway, Bluie West 8 was an allied outpost in Greenland during WWII. It was used mostly as a weather observatory and aircraft enroute from the Americas to Europe took advantage of it's runway as a stopover. Funny thing is, I never heard about this place until AFTER I had created the map. I had known there were airbases in Greenland, but never any details. Turns out the map I created looks pretty much like the real thing, check out a first hand experience and pictures here: http://www.firebirds.org/menu15/mn15_p5a.htm Once you see these pictures, you'll understand why the map is a bit on the empty side. There isn't really much there in reality. So, on to the map used in the game. Scenario: The Battle of the Atlantic rages on throughout 1942. German U Boats are harassing Allied convoys supplying Great Britain. The addition of new Allied airbases in Greenland have allowed Allied aircraft to attack the U Boat wolf packs and more convoys are reaching Britain unscathed. The German navy has sent a task force of five U Boats and two destroyers to take over Bluie West 8 and use it towards their war effort. It is critical to the operation of German U Boats in the North Atlantic that Allied air support of convoys be stopped. The Allies have just started construction on Bluie West 8 and the base isn't complete or well supplied yet. There is a hangar with airstrip, some aircraft, barracks, hospital, some vehicles, and several defensive positions. The base is supported by three Gato class submarines and two destroyers. OK, so I took some liberties with dates, times and who-what-where-when, but you get the idea. Now for the nitty-gritty: I've customized several of the vehicles used to make things look a bit better. The destroyers on the German side have correct flags and their landing craft bear German markings as well. All the destroyers allow a player to jump from any position to any other position, including the MGs mounted amidships. This way, if a single player is manning a ship, they can attack another ship or sub with the main guns and depth charges then immediately jump to an MG position to ward off attacking aircraft. Submarines each have their own spawnpoints and have four forward torpedo tubes and one in the stern. This is historically correct for the German Sub7c. The American Gato class subs had *ten* torpedo tubes, six in the bow and four in the stern. This is a bit of overkill for the game, and would have made the American subs nearly invincible, so I kept them equal. Use ALT-FIRE to launch a stern torpedo. This is handy when using the "run away" tactic, if you're being chased by a destroyer, launch a torpedo at his bow now and then to keep him on his toes. There is a catch to all this firepower, though: it takes three times as long to reload the four torpedoes than the normal subs in the game. This makes reload time thirty seconds, so make those four count. Reload time for the stern tube is ten seconds. Four full hits to the side of a destroyer with torpedoes will sink it immediately. If you're in a destroyer, don't let a sub get at right angles to you, always try to keep them head-on, where you can hit them with cannon fire, pass nearby, then drop depth charges on them. It takes a lot more torpedoes to sink a ship if you hit it head on, always go for the soft sides, not the bow or stern. Everything else used in the map is pretty much stock. There are four aircraft available at the hangar, two SBD's and two SBD-T's for the Americans, and when the Germans capture the base (tricky - see below) they get BF-109's and Stukas. There are a bunch of jeeps scattered around, so you can get places, and one APC. There are three defguns set up for defense of the base, but this may be overkill.... I may take one out. That's pretty much it, see below for strategy guide and the secret of capturing Bluie West 8. Strategies: Ships and subs take one to four minutes to respawn, treat them well and repair! Watch out for icebergs! We don't want the Titanic to get a new buddy, do we? LOL Germans: Spawn as an engineer and get in a sub and dive immediately. The Americans know where you are (because I'm going to tell them, see below) and will attack very soon with bombs and torpedoes. If you don't get a sub, man a destroyer and try to shoot down the planes that are soon to arrive. Support the subs by keeping the American destroyers occupied. The control point for Bluie West 8 can only be captured by a submerged submarine, in a narrow fjord called Søndre Strømfjord. This a bit tricky to do, even if the fjord wasn't guarded by an American destroyer. Take out the destroyer first, then submerge into the fjord and ease your way up to the control point. I've found a trick that will make this easier. Drop down the console by hitting the tilde ( ~ ) key on your keyboard, then type the following: "game.usehud 0" (without quotes). This will turn off the map that's normally used when a sub is underwater and you'll be able to see where you're going. Once you've captured the flag, surface and turn your hud back on with "game.usehud 1". If you don't know how to use console commands, look around the net, there are plenty of guides on how to do it. I could've turned the underwater hud off permanently for all the subs, but it would also turn off your oxygen and depth meters, so you wouldn't know how much air you have left or if you're going too deep. Another medthod I could have used was to extend the periscope depth, but that made it so the sub wouldn't use air at all when underwater, so it seems the best way is the hud trick, and I've left it at the player's discretion. If you don’t want to use the hud trick, submerge until your depth meter reads about 2.5 - 3 and slowly cruise up to the flag. With the hud on, you’ll see the flag symbol pop up, so you’ll know you’re in the right place. If you don't want or can't get a sub, spawn on a destroyer and grab a landing craft. There a few places along the coast where it's a little less obvious to make a landing. Then hoof it overland to the hangar and steal a plane. The land is pretty flat, and there aren't too many places to hide - be careful. No superman stunts! This should be fixed in the next patch. Americans: Spawn at the hangar and grab a plane. Follow the sun to the German fleet. Bomb the bejeebers out of them. Spawn at one of the subs and go sink German ships, pretty simple. Stay on land and man one of the defguns, especially near the mouth of the fjord. If you see a sub, shell it to pieces. Spawn at the destroyer in the fjord. Make a decision, do you stay here to depth charge and shell any subs that come along, but have zero mobility, or do you head out to sea and go hunting? Your choice. The other destroyer is out on patrol, travel back and forth along the coast and among the icebergs looking for ships and subs to sink. Watch out for the odd hijacked plane. If the Germans take the control point, your only choice is to get in a sub to take it back, see the German section on how to do it. Or, if you get bored, grab a jeep and go do donuts on the frozen lake, just be careful driving down to it, jeeps tend to blow up on it if you hit it too hard. That's pretty much it, I hope whoever downloads this map likes it enough to play it, but since naval-centric maps aren't very popular, I'm not holding my breath. If someone wants to host this on a server, great, drop me a line and I'll see if I can show up. Anyone who wants to take this map apart and see how I did things for use in their own map, go ahead, just give me some credit. I pretty much figured everything out by taking apart the official maps and seeing how they are made. I'd like to thank everyone at EA Games and DICE for making the great game in the first place, awesome job! Another thanks to all the helpful people at www.planetbattlefield.com and www.bf42.com, the forums there are full of helpful people, just don't ask how to lower the ramp on a landing craft! hehe Another great resource for editing/modding questions is the wiki at http://www.twilighthalls.de/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?HomePage Editors used to make this map: Battlecraft beta 1.0 and 1.1 for most of the actual landscape generation and object placement. Photoshop 7 for texturing and graphics editing. Windows notepad for all that con file editing. A little done in the con editor of Battlecraft 1.1 For more info on Bluie West 8 and general WWII naval stuff, see the following pages: http://worldatwar.net/nations/greenland/timeline.html http://www.bbar.dtu.dk/~ilfjac/Godhavn96/logbog/BW-8-eng.html http://www.qsl.net/xp1ab/History.htm http://www.firebirds.org/menu15/mn15_p5a.htm http://www.firebirds.org/menu15/mn15_p5.htm http://home6.inet.tele.dk/ron/greenland/bw1_pic1.htm http://uboat.net/ http://navalhistory.flixco.info

Well A tournament mate of mine [10AD]R|1Lt.GRUNGIR 21st Century Warfare has made a map with the x-wings and a-wings included with the mod (they are works in progress so don't expect perfection) If you look in battle-craft you can find all of them. Well have fun, AND STOP BITCHING!
[10AD]R|1Lt.GRUNGIR wrote:
quote: For anyone who wants to try out the X-Wing, we sort of threw a map together last night with some on there. It's nothing special, no buildings, no ammo, no health lockers. Just wanted to try out the X-Wing. A basic hilly map for dogfighting the X-Wing and Tie Fighters.
On that note, the X-Wing turns into a Tie-Fighter when destroyed, it also has a very high threshold for damage, especially if you bail out at high altitudes. It will just land and spin for a while. Added 3 A-Wings.
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! The A-Wing only really works at low speeds. At high speeds it shakes more than the '76 Datsun I had in high school.
