Hello all:

I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how to scale the size of the ships ingame (SFC3). I would like to scale down a couple of ships (make em smaller).

Also, can anyone tell me how to give new ships (models I added into the game) shipnames. I cant seem to add in names in the shipnames file in the strings folder, they show ??? for the name ingame. I have exel, word and notepad.

Thanks folks

I think the only way to scale a ship is if you have 3dsmax. I also dont know how to fix the shipnames, cause it dont work for me either. also I am still having trouble adding ships to the game. I downloaded the Nova class from staryards.com and I had to manually put in the Hardpoints, but it didnt work. :( o well :(

I find adding ships is quite easy with Excel. I use the hardpoint editor by dderidex. Makes it easy. After I edit with the editor, I go into the two default... files in specs folder and match what I have done with the editor. Let me know if you need the editor and I can email it to you

Unfortunatley, I dont have Excel! I do have the HP editor however. Could that be the reason why my ships arent being registered?

You have to go into your Defaultcore and your DefaultLoadOut files in your scripts folder. Here is where you would direct your game to search for the new folders. I have a couple of tutorials I down loaded. If you want them, I can email them to ya. Just let me know your email

first things first shawn. i know u already know how to put the ships into the game. so we wont bother about that little detail. well i will try to explain this as easy as i can. 1. u have ur model in the correct folder 2. u used a copy of another ship in the defaults lines and renamed it to the model ur putting in. 3. now u have to make a copy of a .gf file to put in ur models folder for that ship.(very important) u can just copy another ships and rename it. 4. with ur HP editor, add ur hardpoints u want to add and that then save it. 5. go into ur default files and make sure u have all ac****ed for, ie. if u put on 10 phasers hardpoints in the editor ur default core txt file must show 10 primary hardpoints and arcs. 6. not as important but still the default loadout txt, dont necessary have to account for all the new hardpoints unless u want them to come with the ship when u use it without having to buy them. 7. then when thats done before u start ur game make sure u use the model tools which has the rechacer in it. that put the .x file for ur ship in the folder. 8. after that start game if it dont show when u go to skirmish. then u go to invalid ships list. see what went wrong. maybe u just need to increase the amount something alittle bigger. then it usually works after that.

thats as simple as i know of explaining to anyone. cause when i started i tried the manuals and everything too. they were little more than gibberish to me too. hope that helps too.

ps here is excel to for u
