Skinning/Leatherworking is a pure money machine. Beasts are found all over the world and unskinned corpses are left by people without skinning.

All the gathering professions make money, but Herbalism probably the most while leveling up. At 60, I can easily make 200g a day just from Herbalism, and if you have a mod like Gatherer(which records locations of herbs/ores), then by simply running around the higher level zones (Winterspring, W/EPL, Burning Steppes, Silithus) you can make tonnes of cash by visiting the spawns.

As nice as Herbalism is, it's not a money maker. At lvl 60 you are more likely to use the (expensive) high level herbs you find to make potions to boost yourself in instances rather than selling them. Yes, greater fire res postions as well as major health/mana can sell for much gold per stack, but if you don't use them yourself, most of the time you'll give/sell them cheap to your guild members.

so what would you think if i got skinning/herbalism, that would provide the raw materials needed for people to make some, so then i could sell is at AH.

I would say skinning/leatherworking since you would be able to get more of your skins (making them into things that sell for more than pure stacks of skins). Or if you only want gathering professions, I would suggest mining as the second choice (farming Arcane Crystals is very lucrative).

Who said anyhting about Alchemy though? Herbalism and Mining are the best money making professions (I've never done mining but I imagine it'd be quite good). Doing 2 circuits of the borders of Winterspring, W&EPL, Silithus, and Burning Steppes in a day will get you a coiuple of stacks of Mountain Silversage, Plaguebloom, Icecap, and if you're lucky, one or two Black Lotus (you could run around and around in the Blasted Lands for Gromsblood too if you wanted, especially if your Herbalism level wasn't high enough to get those others). On most servers, those herbs sell anywhere from 10-25g/stack on the auction house, and Black Lotus around 20g/herb.

I personally am finding the skinning/leatherworking to not only be good for money making but you can also use the leatherworking to make armor for your own character as well as making things to sell to others in the AH. Granted I'm only a lvl 10 character in the game currently but I'm working on getting the higher lvls so I can get the better stuff.

Herbalism & Skinning, or replace skinning with mining. Most endgame guilds buy out a lot of herbs that are needed for flasks. I find myself selling a stack of gromsblood or mountain silversage for about 30g a stack.

Also, with being a flower picker, if you come across black lotus, it sells for about 20+ gold EACH.
