Ensemble Studios was founded in the mid-90s, and were soon were known for the popular RTS games in the Age of Empires series. Since then, they have also developed Age of Mythology, and has released a total of nine games in the RTS genre. That, however, will soon be over. Microsoft can confirm that they are facing a minor revolution of its gaming studios, which means that Ensemble Studios will be closed shortly after the release of Halo Wars at the beginning of 2009. Microsoft has however already planned that the staff from Ensemble Studios will be transferred to a new studio, which, among other things, will stand for the future support of just Halo Wars. Whether this means the end of the Age of Empires series is still uncertain. So far, we must be content to look forward to the release of Halo Wars at the beginning of 2009, when it is released exclusively for Xbox 360.
