This is a great modpack with a good texture set, but with bland anim and sounds.
Modpack Includes 3 Units: -Ranged Crusader -Footman Crusader -Mounted Crusader
Part 1: Textures --The textures for these crusader units are definitely the best part of the modpack.
The heads of the units are all the same, but skillfully designed nonetheless. They are made of iron, and the author made it look like it was crafted from this metal. It looks awesome to see a huge sea of silver gradiented helms charging over the battlefield. These helmets also have black eyelines (like eyeholes, but it's like one line used for both eyes to guarantee good Line of Sight!) for seeing! Professionally designed head!
The bodies of the units are all the same as well, whether on a horse or on foot. The body texture is white fabric, very medieval-like, and adds to the appearance of the middle ages Crusaders. The body comes with a huge, embroidered, Crucifix on their chest (or back, think it's the chest though) to denote they're Crusaders. I LOVE this part of the texture, it's very cool. The crucifix is also colored whatever player color you have, making it even better!
The horse of the mounted crusader is good, it, too, is clad in white fabric, but the head is uncovered. Nice horse, but could have more detail here.
Part 2: Anim, Proto, and Sound --These sections do not come up to par with the textures, but are still good.
Anim: The anims of these units have not been changed from their originals except for the necessary texture replacement. Other than that, no changes have been made to the anim text file, which means no special effects or weapons changing or anything like that. Big drawback to this mod!
Stats: The units' stats were designed mediocrely, with correct implementation of everything except the icons, which I had to fix myself for them to work. The stats otherwise are good, but overpowered in the attack / HP sections. Slight drawback here.
Sound: I was surprised and disappointed to find out that these units DO have sounds attached to them, but they are simply the generic greek military voices, nothing new or different. VERY bland, and I'm taking off Tech points here!
All-around good mod, recommended for download, but there is definitely room for improvement!
This mod pack comes with 3 new units added to the editor!
New features include:
--New Textures --New xpacklanguage.DLL file (gets rid of the *** in front of the name!) --New Awesome Shield --Sounds --Historically accurate damage bonus vs. Egyptians (in Crusader's sake, the Saracens) --All around awesome mod!
Enjoy this new, fun, and great mod!
Have fun Crusading!
Please, I'd like some comments!
============================================================== Crusaders 1.0 For Titans Creator-Monk Can't use for Online Play ============================================================== These Crusaders are based off the Medieval Crusaders that went to war with the Middle-East to win back the 'Holy Land' or where Christ was born. This all happend when the Pope asked all the European Nations to stop fighting and win back the Holy Land, the Saracens and the Europeans went to war and it was a long battle. This includes ~~Three ALL NEW units, that includes Infantry Crusader, Archer Crusader, and Horse Crusader ~~New textures ~~New DLL file meaning no *** ~~New historically accurate bonuses vs. Egyptians (Saracens) ~~New Icon ~~New Shield with a Crucifix on it. ~~Add's sound Enjoy all your crusading! ============================================================== I am not responsable for any computer problems you might have. ============================================================== INSTALLATION: Rename the original XpackLanguage.dll. Just in case somehow you screw up. Then go to the Auto-installer Geting the Protox.xml file extracted from the Data2.bar: Download AoMED.To get the files you want to go to 'Program Files\Microsoft Game\Age of Mythology\Data' file, and click on Input Data, click on Data2.bar, now, after that, make a new file somewhere to extract the data, next you want to click on the Extract Data Into Folder button in AoMed, then go into the file you made, it should have the information for both files in the 2 top pale color boxes, now, click Read Data. After that, you want to go back into the extracted data file using the Direct File Conversion button and find Protox.XMB, NOTE: XMB, .XML won't be there yet. Click on Protox.XMB and put it in the same spot, go to the file, and you will see ProtoX.XMB and ProtoX.XML, copy both them by high-lighting the two files then clicking CTRL C or Left Clicking on one of them and hit Copy. You have them copied, now, go into the Data file, paste them into here by clicking CTRL V or Left Clicking and hitting Paste You need to also go to the protox.xml file, this will be needing editing to install the unit, how you do this is go to the 'Program Files\Microsoft Game\Age of Mythology\Data'file, find the Protox.xml file RIGHT click on it, it will say Open With- rollover that and click Notepad or Wordpad, go to the bottom, and between </Unit> and </proto> copy and paste the ProtoFile's information in there. UNINSTALLATION: Delete the files which have Crusader on it, and also the Attachment C Shield. Go back into the Protox.xml file, and delete what I gave you. Also, to be able to play online (without the mod), create a new folder, preferably on your desktop, called STORAGE, so its easy reference to get back the mods. Go into the Data file, (we've been there lots, don't forget!) and cut them out, by CTRL X, and the go into the new file you made, and hit CTRL V to paste it in. Get them back, do just the oppisite. Go into the Storage folder, and CTRL C, instead of X (just so if you delete the proto file) and paste it into the Data file located in Age of Mythology folder. ============================================================== Questions?
