Description
This mod will create a Gimli unit in Age of Mythology: The Titans.
Review
This mod made by link_legend barely made any faults. The mod is well detailed with a special button to switch Gimli from hand to hand battling to a ranged attack where he throws his axes. As well as this, there are actual sounds from the movie. When he is selected and made to move or attack another unit he says things like ' i have the eyes of a hawk and ears of a fox' and ' nobody tosses a dwarf!'. These sounds come from all three of the Lord Of The Rings films. You can make a Gimli in your temple when you rise to the heroic age. He is quite an expensive unit compared to some but is well worth it. When you try to access details on the unit by right clicking on his picture it tells you about his past and his ancestors. However, on when you try to create the unit he has no name and on the right click menu he is known as default. Also, on editor where his name is supposed to be it is blank. It would be even better if names were included.
All of the great points about Gimli though overcome the few slight problems. I recommend this unit to anyone who likes the Lord of the rings and anyone who likes AOM.

Installing: Run setup.exe
CAUTION: PROTOX.XMB, SOUNDSETS-XPACK.XMB, TECHTREEX.XMB AND UNITTRANSFORM.XMB WILL BE OVERWRITTEN!!! IF YOU WISH TO KEEP YOUR CURRENT FILES, PUT THEM IN A DIFFERENT FOLDER FROM THE ORIGINAL!!!
VERY VERY IMPORTANT-
Enclosed is a copy of xpacklanguage.dll. THE .EXE FILE WILL AUTOMATICALLY OVERWRITE XPACKLANGUAGE.DLL.
IF YOU WANT TO REMOVE THE XPACKLANGUAGE.DLL, AND PUT IN THE OLD ONE, DELETE "xpacklanguage.dll" FROM THE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology FOLDER!
THEN, INSIDE THE ZIP FILE, EXTRACT xpacklanguage_original.dll AND RENAME IT AS "xpacklanguage.dll"! THEN PUT IT IN THE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology FOLDER!
Anyway... run the setup.exe file and when it says "extract to" just click extract. This will put all the needed files into age of mythology.

8. Custom histories straight from the LOTR movie!
9. A regenerating unit that can come back to life if killed
10. Good textures
11. Norse armor and weapon upgrades affect Gimli too
12. Weapons and special attacks switch as you switch Gimli back and
forth

Delete "Gimli_anim.txt" and "Gimli (Ranged)_anim.txt

Delete "Protox.xmb", "techtreex.xmb" and "unittransform.xmb"

3. Inside the history2 folder...
Delete "Gimli.txt" and "Gimli (Ranged).txt"...
********ALSO********** inside the history2 folder, go to the "units"
folder and delete "Gimli.txt" and "Gimli (Ranged).txt"
********THEN********** inside the history2 folder, go to the "techs"
folder and delete "Soul of Thorin.txt"

4. Inside the "Sound" folder...
Delete all files that start with the word "Gimli" and delete
soundsets-xpack.xmb and soundsets-xpack.xml

5. Inside the "Textures" folder...
Delete "Gimli Head.ddt", "Gimli Standard.ddt", "Improvement Soul of
Thorin icon 64.ddt", "Improvement Soul of Thorin icon 32.ddt",
"Gimli icon.ddt" and "Gimli icon 64.ddt".
*******ALSO*******
Inside the "Textures" folder, go to the "icons folder" and delete
"Improvement Soul of Thorin icon 64.ddt", "Improvement Soul of Thorin
icon 64.ddt", "Gimli icon.ddt" and "Gimli icon 64.ddt"

6. xpacklanguage.dll
Inside the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology folder, SCROLL TO THE WAY END.
There should be a file named xpacklanguage.dll
INCLUDED IN THE ZIP, AS I MENTIONED BEFORE, IS AN xpacklanguage_original.dll! EXTRACT THE XPACKLANGUAGE_ORIGINAL.DDT FROM THE ZIP FILE, AND RENAME IT "xpacklanguage.dll" THEN DRAG IT INTO THE C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology FOLDER!

Uninstallation takes a while, but when it's done, Gimli's fully removed
from the game. YOU MUST UNINSTALL IT TO PLAY ONLINE.
