Beetle Model (version 2.0)

BEETLE_MODEL_V2.zip —

Description

Version 2.0:

AvP2's beetle model will replace the facehugger in both singleplayer and multiplayer. The beetle functions exactly the same as the facehugger but with new sounds. Version 2.0 of the beetle will fix a glitch that version 1.0 had in that the beetle was invincible to fire and wouldn't burn in singleplayer. The beetle catches on fire as it should now. Everything else about the model is the same as version 1.0. Enjoy.

From version 1.0:

While working on the Chameleon model I decided to swap around other AvP2 models for the aliens. Most lack the required amount of animations to look decent, but I came across the beetle which had enough to work with. I decided to replace the facehugger with the beetle because they're about the same size as each other, and because the beetle was originally intended (aside from screwing up your tracking device readings) to make you think it was a facehugger. So a beetle that is actually dangerous to the player will keep the player guessing which beetles are safe and which are not. Besides, there aren't enough new models or skins for the facehugger anyways.

The beetle will do everything the facehugger does and at the same speeds, but in its own special way. For instance, the beetle dies like an actual bug that flops on its back during death. The biggest difference will be how it flaps its wings about when pouncing/jumping and facehugging/facemating. I've included vision mode textures of the beetle for each vision mode, the original beetle sounds, and a new texture to see when being facehugged/facemated. The beetle tends to camoflauge a little better as it is slightly smaller and darker than the facehugger. You've been warned.

A) Extract or copy the BEETLEV2.rez file from the .zip and place it in your custom folder in your Alien Versus Predator 2 directory. If you dont have a custom folder, you must make one. *Hold mouse>Right click>New>Folder*

B) Start AVP2.exe. Click "OPTIONS" on the launcher window with the picture of the queen.

C) To run the beetle model, type the following in the command line exactly as follows:

-rez custom/BEETLEV2.rez

D) Check "Always specify these command-line parameters."

E) You will know if you installed the beetle model correctly if you see a beetle in place of the facehugger in AvP2.
