File Description

This is my AVP2 single player map "BioWeapon". It is a marine single player map. The map is themed around the original single player campaign for Aliens vs. Predator 2, although, the story itself is not related to the original game. I started making this map near the end of February 2005. This map is my first publicly released map.

_________ Storyline: _________

On a distant planet, LV 263, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation has established a mining and research facility. The planet's rich mineral deposits made it an ideal source for scientific development. However, the mineral mining facility has simply been a front for public and military eyes. In truth, the Yutani Corporation has discovered a subterranean xenomorph hive on the planet, and constructed the facility to gain access to the hive and conduct experimental research. Now, during one of the most critical experiments, the facility has suffered a power loss. Something has gone wrong. Unable to mount a timely investigation themselves, the Yutani Corporation has asked the marines to investigate the situation. So, after arriving to the planet by dropship, your marine team has set course for the mining facility via APC. Just another routine mission to restore communications at a mineral mining facility and clean up after the Yutani Corporation again.....or so you thought.

__________
Known Bugs:
__________

1) There is a problem with the automatic doors in the map. At times they will cease
functioning as if they have been locked. None of the automatic doors in the map are
supposed to lock or stop functioning after you have used them. If this happens and you
get stuck behind one of the doors you will unfortunately have to reload a saved game or
restart the map to complete it. I do not know why the doors do this although it tends
   not to happen that often.

2) There is a problem with some of the simulated pickups in the map. If the player picks
them up after loading a saved game the pickup's activate icon will not be removed. This
will not adversely affect your game and will simply seem as though there is still
something there to pickup when in fact there is not. For some reason these particular
objects will not respond to their removal messages after a saved game has been loaded.

3) If you get too close to the switch in the elevator while it is moving up it will kill you.
This is caused by ForceMove being enabled. There were more problems with setting it
False then there were with setting it True.

4) There is a problem with the model lighting from the moon in the map (StaticSunLight).
At times it will cease to be blocked by solid geometry. The geometry lighting shadows
will remain constant but the player's models will not be affected by these shadows. I am
not sure why this happens, but you can usually remedy it by reloading a saved game or
   restarting the map.

5) The model lighting from the moon in the map (StaticSunLight) will bleed through the first
door into the facility. I could not find a working method of blocking modeling lighting
beyond a door (or any geometry for that matter).

6) The light in the second elevator does not light the player's models as the elevator
moves. This is not really a bug, but rather the result of the inability to create a
movable model light with the editor.

7) There are some inexplicable shadows on some of the map's geometry in certain places. I
hope they are not too noticeable, but I could not figure out what was causing them or
   how to remove them.

8) One of the dead enemy bodies in the map will return to its initial starting position if
you reload a saved game after it has been killed. I am not sure why this happens. It
will not adversely affect your game and will simply seem as though the dead body has
mysteriously moved again after it was killed.

Special Thanks:
______________

1) To my custom texture artist r3gan, for providing all of the custom textures, skins, and
images (as well as some custom sound work) used in this map. This map would simply not
be the same without your efforts.

2) To my good friend, who prefers to remain anonymous, for providing the custom voice sound
   effects used in this map.

3) To all those who helped me to beta test the map before release. Your insight has
increased the quality of the map and corrected issues that I may have overlooked.

4) To the mappers and editors at the PlanetAVP editing forum. Your invaluable aid has
increased my knowledge of DEdit and the quality of this map to points that they would
   have never seen otherwise.
