This map featured a large oddly-shaped artifact at its center, cleverly dubbed the "ElectroTurd." The latter bit of the name probably refers to its shape, but the former gives a hint as to what will happen when you approach it. Play with caution! Map is available in both multiplay and singleplay.
ElectroTurd - Version 1.0 ------------------------- ***WARNING!*** All Approved Visitors are advised that EXTREME CAUTION MUST BE USED when approaching the artefact! Failure to comply with this recommendation MAY RESULT IN DEATH! Held permanently in place by an ancient stasis yoke, the irregularly shaped eliptical mass of rotating xenomorph resin known as the 'ElectroTurd' continuously emits an audible hum that can be physically felt resonating deep in the abdomen as well as heard from a distance of several hundred metres away. The ungainly shaped object itself has no known origin; and is one of several such ancient xenohistorical archeology sites found throughout the explored regions of the United Star Systems. 'Who built the artefact?' and 'What purpose was it originally intended to serve?', are frequently asked questions holding equal anonymity as the giant alien mass eternally and unerringly rotates upon its longitudinal axis. Despite the many unanswered questions and theories regarding the artefact, one fact is certain - and undeniable. The artefact possesses an astonishing source of constantly replenishing electrical energy. As such, the artefact must be considered extremely hazardous to incautious inspections. All attempts to determine the source and successfully harness its power have failed. Indeed, upon its initial discovery, the early settlers of this World lost several members of their community to the artefact's deadly radial electrical discharges. Since its discovery, such casualties have become frequent. Many Weyland-Yutani technical staff studying the mechanism have also suffered tragic loss of life due to careless work practices and activities around the base of the artefact. Like various other archeological sites that can be found throughout the USS - now known throughout the xenohistorical academic community as 'Pilot Digs' - the 'ElectroTurd' is a primary example of the ancient majesty and technical sophistication found on the Pilot Dig sites. It continues to this day to be a source of great mystery, discussion and conjecture. No one has yet offered a satisfactory explanation for its curious existence. Why it was constructed, or who - or what - built it in the first place; might just continue to be questions that may remain unsolved for all of eternity. Please double-check that all carry-bags and equipment is securely stowed on the transit shuttle platform. Return to the Game Launcher's Main Menu and select: 'Play'. The game will then start with new map components loaded. Choose 'dm_electroturd' from the Multiplayer Maps Menu or 'electroturd' from the Single Player -> Custom Menu.
