Thanks to Ameba for the poll idea. :) I think i'm going to have to go with "Update the site graphics", i'd consider the "I would pay the staff" option, but seeing as how we don't have a budget that's not going to happen. :|

I would change the site graphics to a lighter blue color scheme the current one is a bit on the dark and purbly for my liking and also the date is always displayed the American way MM-DD-YYYY no matter what it is set to in Member Options so I would change that to the British DD-MM-YY

If it ain't broke don't fix it. maybe some new graphics, but don't get obsessed about it. I do however really like the free donuts idea. figure out a way to teleport them to my pc and i'll eat them.

I love this color scheme, used the same one when making a portfolio a while ago  I'd pay the staff.

good to see that my idea rises so much discussion. but you made up option 5 and 6 by yourself, so dont blame me if 5 comes in 1st. :-)

Kill all Romulan Scum who show their heads.... Very easy to say what you would do guys but take it from a former staff member when real life kicks in to the fast lane then it gets exceedingly difficult to give time to the site which is why I left a few months back and worst of all I'm only ever getting busier especially now I am working 3,000 miles away from home but hey what can you do? :p

#14 - Posted by: krael (Member) on 07-28-2008 at 12:42

I would upgrade the graphics, as long as it doesn't slow the site down. I would go for an Lcars type of display (TNG. Voyager). (Nice poll by the way)

question. how is it that their are more comments then votes? (right now) and as far as the donuts go you could print them out and add water :donut:

#16 - Posted by: Freyr (Staff) on 07-30-2008 at 02:41

Hit refresh. One of the web servers seems to be stuck with an old set of results, however the other two are working correctly.

lolz I can see that now :D (weird error)

#18 - Closing the site - Posted by: CanadianBorg (Member) on 07-31-2008 at 18:05

I think the poll option for "new graphics" could be expanded to say "increase the standards of web design" but I don't have much of a problem with the site, and I'm not flaming about anything. I only have some suggestions. 1. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) - use more of that in place of inline presentational attributes and elements in the HTML. This would make each Filefront site more easy to manage in that if you needed to change background images/add them you'd edit the css file, perhaps store some css in a database and then it is called when it is needed by a php function using content negotiation (header(content-type:text/css), etc) to do it. This would also make it easier for FF management to put up new sites for different games. That'd make the main stylesheet smaller in size so that you didn't have to put custom pages into the main css file. Yadda yadda and so forth. CSS makes for a way of making pages appear consistent from page to page and makes it easier to do certain things. It'd be a lot easier to manage the site no doubt, and there are web designers out there who could make the system work well for Filefront overall. 2. A bit more padding between sections (perhaps around the size of one character, or in css terms, padding:1em or padding-left:1em or padding-right:1em - do that with css selectors. 3. Minimum width: 800px instead of 990. Most people have browsers on machines that support over 800 width but some may not. 4. Rely less heavily on tables if you can, or make them degradable for accessibility purposes. 5. Puma cannon. I can't fit a lesson of CSS into this post, nor fit in how to do columns as opposed to tables (and tables do need to be used in some cases, like, um, for tables), but I just figured that I'd mention some things. Other than that, if a mod requires screenshots (like it's not a techtree mod or some odf mod that doesn't have special effects in it), then people must submit a screenshot or the mod gets put into a draft until the author provides at least one screenshot. And yea, ban the staff and members whilst giving them all a donut on their way out the door. Just kidding of course. Zepplin Rules!!!

as much as i would like to have an all better filefront network, i think updating the graphics could be done only for this site. as LCAS seems to be the wish of most, will the stuff look into that?

I think this site is overdue for a facelift;););)
