In case you're wondering, YES, there is a theme to these polls. I've put together a grid in the same form as NCAA basketball.... these "sweet sixteen" matchups will determine who stays on the road to the Final Four, and so far the Delmarva and Sovereign have qualified! Your votes determine the winners, so vote early and vote often! :D

4 Words. Multi Vector Assault Mode. The ultra sleek Prometheus Class takes my vote for that fact alone.

 #3 - The Halsey - Posted by: adm_tyler (Member) on 03-02-2009 at 04:59
I'd go with a Proemtheus. It isn't anywhere near as powerful as an Achilles (when combined) but it looks much better.

The prometheus is a lot stronger than an achilles, it has regenerative shields and ablative armor and besides, it has MVAM. The achilles is more of an enhanced battlecruiser while the prometheus is a long range battleship.

Prommy ftw I hate the achilles...

The Achilles isn't even canon... the choice is easy, Prometheus all the way!

never really liked the....shape of the achilles class thats the only reason ill command a prometheus

I like normally prefer the Achilles class but the Promethues class has MVAM so I would go for the Promethues Class plus the Achilles class has a weird name

"the Achilles class has a weird name" Both Achilles and Prometheus are figures from Greek mythology. Not sure how one is weird while the other isn't with the same origin. Unless you mean accepting command of a vessel strictly on the basis of what it's named, in which case your history homework is to actually look up the battleship Potemkin and learn something. Ignorance of history is a trait most unbecoming a Starfleet commander.

Achillies slaughtered a Hutet and a small fleet while taking almost no damage (even hull marks), while a Prometheus (with doesn't even have Quantums, only Photons) lost a lot of shield strength against a D'deridex very quickly. It's Regenerative shields did nothing, it's ablative armor was nearly useless. The only thing about it that proved to have any weight behind it was the MVAM.

I suppose March Madness is called March madness for a reason, even though most of the Sweet Sixteen matchups seem to occur in April, lol. And now it is here. I recommend immediate assimilation, lol.

Bah, I'll be different and take the Achilles. It was a tough choice, mind you. If it was anything other than an Achilles matched up with a Prometheus, I would have taken the latter.

I don't think the Achilles is even cannon. The ship only appears on the sites related to the DS9 Dominion wars game but there's no mention of it on memory alpha, DITL or Ex Astris

You don't need to be a Rocket Scientist to figure that out. The poll wasn't about it's is canon/non-canon status.

Here's another question for ya Kid, Are the choices in ships going to be solely limited to Star Trek?

 #16 - Posted by: HMS_Frontier (Member) on 03-04-2009 at 12:21
#9 I meant the Potemkin and I do know a lot about history but Medieval Britain /Byzantine Empire rather then Russian ships, plus a battleship wouldn't be my first choice anyway.

I'm not familiar with either ship...I don't know the special qualities for either ship (like in the first poll, both ships weren't your run-of-the-mill vessels. Each had a unique quality which is why they were chosen). But I do know the general class for both of these ships, and my vote goes to the Prometheus.
