A while back, as part of a mod, Icewolf put together these fine looking turrets --one phaser, one torpedo-- and tried to get them to work. He then abandoned these designs in favour of a different one, but the turrets still look really good! After some badgering about them in the forums, Icewolf's seen fit to upload them for our enjoyment and use. You can never have enough turrets.

Note that there are some known flaws in the designs, as specified in the readme, and if you do want to correct the flaws then re-release these turrets, you've got Icewolf's full permission to give it a go. Of course, you'll be expected to give credit where it's due.

These are turrets that I created a while back for a project I was working at the time. But as time went on I scrapped them for a diffrent design and methood for turret defense. So, rather than let them collect a bunch of Digital Dust I'm tossing them out for the community to use.

0 - Credits

And I'd like to thank the Armada II Files staff for the readme template.


1 - Installation

All ODF files go into the odf/stations folder, textures in the textures/rgb folder, and the SODs into the sod folder. Doing it that way will replace the stock turrets with these, as well as use the stock wireframes and build buttons.

I know that this is a bit vage, and I could do a lot better for a replacement mod, but this is meant more as a resource than anything else...and I'm a bit short on time right now -_-. With that in mind, I also strongly suggest that you modify the ODFs to your liking, as they both use weapons from the Galaxy class (which is somewhat balanced when you think of it, since some nut job made their phasers and photons do 100 points of damage in the stock game!).

Also, the MS3D files have been included, so feel free to edit or rip them apart to your heart's content.

4 - Known Issues

The Torpedo Turret (turret2) launches it's torpedo's oddly, which is a result of the hardpoints not rotating when exported. I've tried to fix this through the mesh by using the child node trick, but it's a no go...my best guess is that it doesn't like the number of extra nodes.

There is an ODF fix that can be done, open up the ordanance file for whatever torpedo you want the turret to use and add this if it isn't already in there;

seekTime = 0.0

Other than that, everything should be alright. If there's any other bugs found please contact me.
