What we have here is a clever idea done only once before on the site. Very simple as well and I think in this case, it works better. If you have a look at the pictures below, you'll see that there are 3 fighters flying in unison. Well, that's because this mod as the Sparrow Class' fighting as a squad. Pretty cool, huh? Whilst obviously one gets picked off rather easily, the three of them together can put in a little bit more of a punch before being toasted, which, they will. There's also a good bit of balance here as well. If you take a look at the ship odf then you'll see you could build an unlimited amount of them, due to the non-existent officer count. Don't fear though. They're relatively expensive for what they're worth and truly will only be powerful against ships, especially in swarms. With a damage base of 2 (in scale, a Sovereign stock has roughly 90) you're only going to be doing damage in a group, whilst being picked off by larger capital's.
It's a nice set too. All content is there and looking clean and refined whilst the textures make the very low poly ships look pretty nice. Don't expect them to look fantastic at zoomed-in angle's, but they get the job done and do that well. All in all, a pretty nifty little set. My only irk is that a Sparrow Class wasn't available to use separately, meaning you have to use the combined 3, but it's hardly a big problem. At least this way, you won't lose your small fighters in a pitched battle. I'd say these were best used early on when ships are weak and later on as cannon fodder against defended installations, allowing you to take out defences providing a much easier (and safer) job for your capital's to sort out.
Thank you for downloading the "Sparrow Class Sub-Warp-Scoutships" for Star Trek Armada II 1.1 . The three ships will move and act like a single ship, maybe it is a bit cheap modelling, but it allowes you to have a fleet within a fleet - and the group is low at poly-count (274). Before you install it to the game, first BACKUP your game files. To install the ship in your ARMADA II Game, copy the content of the folders shipped within into their equivalent folders in the ARMADA II directory. ->Open the "gui_global" file in the "Sprites" folder, search: # Federation build buttons @reference=64 insert: b_fsparrow gbfsparrow 0 0 64 64 search: # Federation wireframes @reference=256 insert: fsparroww1 fsparrowwire 256 256 256 256 ->Open the "tech1" file in the "techtree" folder and add under the Federation-Section: fsparrow.odf 0 //scoutship ->Open the "stations" folder in the "odf"-directory and chose a station to build the from.
