I've gotten a trillion requests for my config after posting the FPS guide and it is finally in decent enough shape for others to give it a test. I have managed to apply a number of changes the Battalion Engine.ini, Scalability.ini and GameUserSettings.ini files. Some of the improvements you can experience are as follows:
Improved FPS: Changes to Textures, Lighting, and Texture Streaming.

Improved Visibility: Removal of most grass and foliage. Reduction in effects of fog. More consistent lighting from map to map.

Reduced Network/FPS Stuttering: If your game hitches/stutters occasionally this config may remove that. I would personally get regular hitches using default settings, however, my game no longer hitches/stutters at all.

Reduced Input Lag: Again, I personally experienced a weird input lag, as though many of my inputs were sluggish. I have since removed all input lag from my game.
Improved Shot Registration (Potentialy): Whether it is the rendering changed or networking command changes I am uncertain but my shot registration is much better than with default settings.

If you use "-sm4" in launch options you should only need to change the brightness to correct any darkness.
Installation Instructions:
Before you do anything, back up your own .ini files located in the "C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Battalion\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor" folder. Also back up your "custom.config" files located in your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battalion 1944\Battalion\configs\custom".
Download the .rar containing the files to be changed here:
Extract the contents to C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Battalion\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor. When you get the prompt asking if you want to overwrite the files press "yes to all".
Right click the "GameUserSettings" file and uncheck readonly. Open the file and change ResolutionSizeX/Y and DesiredScreenWidth/Height to match what resolution you play the game in. Save the file and make it readonly again
Copy/Paste the "custom1.config" file to your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battalion 1944\Battalion\configs\custom" folder.
Open the game and reapply your own keyboard and mouse settings/binds. You can also just copy/paste them from your original custom.config file. If you use the damage indicator that flashes your screen when you are getting shot then go to the Gameplay options and change "Show Screen Effects" to show.
Close the game.
This next part is important. Please follow it exactly!!! Whenever you launch the game, you MUST launch it with the custom1.config as your current settings config. If you change ANY settings in the game menu it will end up reverting some settings and potentially make your game less responsive.
Go into your "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Battalion 1944\Battalion\configs" folder and open the "current.txt" file. If it does not say "custom1" then delete whatever is there and write "custom1". Save the file and make it readonly.
That should be all you have to do. The Engine.ini, Scalability.ini, GameUserSettings.ini, custom1.config, and current.txt files MUST remain "readonly" for the config to work correctly. If they are not readonly then they can be overwritten by the game when you launch it and change a lot of the settings. Once againif you change ANY setting whatsoever (sensitivity, volume, graphics, ANYTHING) while you are playing the game, it can make the config less responsive and potentially not work right. Any time you change a setting you should close the game and then reopen it.
There are a lot of commands in this config and many of them do nothing. They are placeholders from attempts to get them working. Some of them may make your game feel like ass. This current config is tailored to my specific hardware and as such could be buggy on yours. I dont think it will be buggy for anyone else but I have no idea. My system specs are shown here:
If you have a medium or low end system and this config does not improve your performance or lowers your performance please reply with what problems you felt you were having and you computer specs. Ill try to resolve the issue with you. If I missed anything I will edit this post to correct it.
Enjoy and welcome to the Zoo!!!!
