The Official Battlefield: Vietnam website has posted up an interview with Battlefield 2 Producer Mike Doran. Here's a snippet:

EAGAMES: What sort of unlockables will Battlefield 2 have, if any? MIKE: Battlefield 2 features a global persistent character growth system. It is important to note that the game is still skill based â€“ a private can take out a general. As players rise in rank from Private to General, they are rewarded with unlocks and privileges which compliment their rank. We'll be revealing details about these rewards soon.
