THE CONQUEST MODE
The goal of CONQUEST mode is to reduce your opponent's tickets to
zero. The current numbers of tickets are shown above the MINIMAP.
These tickets are a pool of lives shared by everyone on the same
team. There are two ways to reduce an opponent's pool of tickets:
kill enemy soldiers or capture control points.

THE CLASSES:

SCOUT
The SCOUT KIT is equipped with a long-range sniper rifle, which
allows him to really reach out and touch someone at a distance.
He can also spot for teammates who are in an artillery positions
(vehicle or ship). To do this equip yourself with the binocular
and press the FIRE button. This will place a camera for a set
amount of time, which your teammate can use to place his shots.
You can only spot on one location at a time.

Inventory:
1)knife
2)pistol
3)sniper rifle
4)grenades
5)binoculars

ASSAULT
The ASSAULT KIT is equipped with an assault rifle, which is best
when taking out enemy infantry. Due to the guns recoil it is most
accurate from a stationary position, either crouching or prone.

Inventory:
1)knife
2)pistol
3)assault rifle
4)grenades

AT
The ANTI-TANK KIT is equipped with an anti-vehicle weapon. Most
vehicles have their heaviest armor in the front, so the best
tactic when attacking is to hit them in the flank or rear. Be
careful of enemy infantry.

Inventory:
1)knife
2)pistol
3)rocket launcher
4)grenades

MEDIC
The MEDIC KIT is equipped with a very effective short-range sub-
machinegun. However, the true value of the medic is the ability
to heal teammates. To do that, equip yourself with the MediKit,
get near the wounded teammate and press the FIRE button. Keep an
ear open for cries of "MEDIC!". If you look at the MINIMAP you will
see a red cross icon indicating the wounded teammate's location.

Inventory:
1)knife
2)pistol
3)sub machine gun
4)grenades
5)medikit

ENGINEER
The ENGINEER KIT is equipped with a standard issue rifle. The
rifle has heavy stopping power but a long reload and limited
ammo capacity. The true value of the engineer is his ability
to repair vehicles and plant explosives, both landmines and
demolition packs. To repair a vehicle, equip yourself with the
wrench and press FIRE while near the damaged vehicle. You can
also deactivate landmines using your wrench. To detonate the
demolition packs after you have laid them out press the ALTERNATE
FIRE button to equip the detonator. Press FIRE to detonate.
Keep your ears open for teammates who need repairs. They will
appear in your MINIMAP as a wrench icon.

Inventory:
1)knife
2)pistol
3)rifle
4)demolition pack
5)mines
6)wrench

THE VEHICLES:
in a vehicle you can switch positions by using your inventory
keys 1-6.

HEAVY TANK
The HEAVY TANK has the best armor of any land vehicle. Coupled
with a powerful cannon and coaxial machinegun, both controlled
by the driver, this vehicle can own the battlefield. Be careful
of enemy infantry, in enough numbers they can swarm even this
powerful weapon.

LIGHT TANK
The LIGHT TANK is an infantryman's worst nightmare. A driver-
controlled cannon and coaxial machinegun coupled with a cupola-
mounted machinegun for anti-air and anti-infantry makes this
two-person vehicle very versatile. Be careful of Heavy Tanks or
hidden anti-tank infantry.

ARTILLERY
The ARTILLERY vehicle has the most powerful cannon among land-
based vehicles. It can also provide indirect fire across vast
distances, and when coupled with the scout this can ruin your
opponent's day. Be careful though as this vehicle has very weak
armor and cannot withstand much damage.
Press right click from the gunner seat to see through placed
guiding cameras and scroll between them with your mouse wheel.
You see their different positions on the minimap. Selected one
flashes.

STATIONARY MG
The STATIONARY MG presents a difficult defensive position to
attacking units. It can cut down any unprotected infantry within
seconds. It is ineffective against armored tanks. You will also
want to be careful, as the machinegun is prone to over-heating.

CLOSE TO VEHICLE
When you are near a VEHICLE/STATIONARY WEAPON, press E to enter/
exit vehicle

==================================================================
Hard Drive Space
==================================================================

Recommended:

400 MB

Install size:

270 MB

In addition to the installed game, Windows will require additional
free hard drive space for its operating system (virtual memory).
The amount of space required varies from 100 MB to 250 MB. If you
have less than 250 MB free space you may encounter the following
message in an error dialog:

      "Ran out of virtual memory"

If you encounter this message, free up some hard drive space.

==================================================================
Improving Gameplay Performance
==================================================================

Some machines will benefit from experimenting with your Network/
Video/Sound options:

- From the Main Menu choose the "Options" menu. Then select
the "Video" menu, select "Texture Quality" and choose "LOW".
You can also try lowering the "Graphics Quality” and "Effect
Quality" in order to meet your machines level of performance.
Whenever changes have been done to the "Texture Quality"
settings while you have a game running, that level has to be
restarted in order to apply the changes.

- Also from the "Video" menu, uncheck the "SHADOWS" check box.
This will prevent the game from creating dynamic shadows for
soldiers and vehicles and should improve performance.

- Also from the "Video" menu, uncheck the "LIGHTMAPS" check box.
This will prevent the game from adding detailed shadows on the
buildings, which should improve your performance.

- Also from the "Video" menu, uncheck the "ENVIRONMENT MAPPING"
check box. This will remove the environmental effects on water,
vehicles and weapons. This should improve your performance.

- Try reducing your video resolution to 640x480 in your "Video"
menu. The lower the resolution, the easier it is for your
  computer to run the game.

- From the "Video" menu you can try lower your color depth from
32 to 16 bit by picking your desired resolution with the color
  depth of 16 (800x600x16).

- From the "Sound" menu you can try to lower your audio quality
by checking the 22khz checkbox. Also test with lowering the
number of channels used 16, 24 or Max.

Other Issues
==================================================================

THIS IS NOT FINAL SOFTWARE. YOU MAY ENCOUNTER ISSUES WHICH WILL BE
FIXED IN THE FINAL PRODUCT.

YOU MAY EXPERIENCE RANDOM CRASHES AND LOCK-UPS. WE ARE FULLY AWARE
OF THIS AND IT WILL BE ADDRESSED IN THE FINAL PRODUCT.

Known Crash bug:

The game will crash to the desktop if you attempt to change
settings and team selection after completing a round and aborting
to the menu. You can restart the game, make your adjustments and
be back on the Battlefield.

Sound card:

Note that the game might not run if your system lack a sound card.
This differs depending on operating system.

Keyboard remapping:

Some users might encounter problems binding their controls and
may receive a "Failed to save" message. This is usually due to a
conflict with multiple actions being mapped to the same key.
You can press DEFAULT to set the keys back to original settings.

Change of resolution:

Changing resolution might affect the quality of the fonts in the
menu. The game operates best with the default resolution of
800x600x32.

Change of texture quality:

Whenever changes have been done to the "Texture Quality" settings
while you have a game running, that level has to be restarted in
order to apply the changes.

Desktop resizing:

Some systems may not resize the desktop upon exiting the game.
The user can manually go into desktop properties and reset this.

Keyboard Controls:

Some PC keyboards cannot recognize certain combinations of 3 or
more simultaneously pressed keys. This is an inherent problem
unrelated to Medal of Honor Allied Assault.
