FIXED VERSION FOR 1.3 PATCH

These uniforms are based on actual photographs and research done on the Imperial Japanese Navy Landing Forces uniforms. These should be very historically accurate. A good majority of the Japanese soldiers portrayed on the Battlefield 1942 Maps would have been IJN Landing Force troops or "Imperial Marines". In most cases these troops were better trained than those of the Japanese Army. Proof of this can be seen due to the following comments from their U.S. counterparts...

"Naval units of this type are usually more highly trained and have a greater tenacity and fighting spirit than the average Japanese Army unit."

"Imperial Marines have earned the respect of their American counterparts for their espirit, discipline, marksmanship, proficiency with heavy weapons, small unit leadership, manifest bravery, and a stoic willingness to die to the last man."

Corrections or changes to the original Battlefield 1942 Japanese Uniforms are as follows..

Assault class, engineer class, and scout class now have the correct "dark brown" helmet with netting. The IJN "Anchor" brass emblem has been added to the front of the helmet.

Medic class now wears the khaki cloth covered helmet with the cloth IJN Anchor emblem sewn on the front.

The Engineer class has had a "prayer flag" sewn on to the back of his backpack. These were commonly attached to the clothing or simply carried by many Japanese soldiers. They were small rising sun flags with Shinto prayers written on them. The prayer flag used in this skin mod is a real scan of an actual prayer flag used in the Pacific War.

All classes wear the IJN anchor badge sewn on the sleeves. The anchor badge used in this skin mod is also a real scan of an actual badge used in the Pacific War.

**From our research we found that some IJN Landing Force units wore green toned uniforms however the majority wore the "khaki" colored uniforms that are depicted in BF 1942. Therefore we kept the original tone of the uniform and just added the IJN anchor badge to the sleeve. All classes apparently wore the anchor badge which depicted class by the color of the flower on the badge. The netted dark brown helmets appear to be the most common used however many pictures we found depicted IJNLF soldiers with khaki covers on their helmets with the sewn on anchor badge. For this reason the khaki covered helmet was added to the medic class.**

Installation Instructions

*Hopefully by now you have probably already installed other skin mods. If not there are plently of tutorials on many BF 1942 sites. Below is a basic idea what you need to do..

1. Use the RFA extractor to extract the texture.rfa folder found in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Archives to the main battlefield directory C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942 and after that there should be a texture folder in
the main directory. Now remove the texture.rfa file that you extracted from in the archives folder.

2. Take the files, Japsen_r, jhelm_med_o, jhelm_r, jhelmscout_o, bacpacbig_jap_o from the zip file and place them in the texture folder in the main directory C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\texture.

1.2 version of battlefield will have different path names as the texture's file is located in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\mods\bf1942\archives\texture.rfa
