**************
* DISCLAIMER *
**************

We do not promote any actions or beliefs of Nazism nor Japanese Imperialism. This TexturePack was designed to provide Battlefield 1942 players with 100% true historic country symbolism. If this is distributed to any country where it is illegal to display or distribute any Nazi or imperial imagery, then you as the user, assume full responsibility, risk and liability, legal or otherwise, associated with the use of these files.

Although we strive to achieve historic accuracy, due to texture mirroring and mapping restrictions, we're forced to omit or modify some markings. Do not assume that the textures contained in this addon are 100% correct.

Due to the methods and techniques used to skin the ships and the fact that many share the same textures.It was impossible to make many of the changes we would have liked. Sorry guys!

Preamble
--------

Two American task forces under Rear Admirals Raymond A. Spruance and Frank J. Fletcher, assisted by planes based on Midway Island, intercepted and outfought a large enemy naval force in the vicinity of Midway, which the Japanese had intended to seize. This was a battle in which planes did all the attacking.

Because of the work of the American code breakers, the United States knew Yamamoto's plans in detail by the middle of May: his target, his order of battle, and his schedule.

By the time it was all over, the Japanese lost 4 carriers, a heavy cruiser, 3 destroyers, some 275 planes, at least 4,800 men, and suffered heavy damage among their remaining vessels. American losses included on carrier, the Yorktown, a destroyer, about 150 planes, and 307 men.

After the Japanese broke off the engagement, part of their task force moved northward and seized three of the Aleutian Islands. Japan's losses, both at the Coral Sea and Midway, did much to restore the balance of naval power in the Pacific, and the Japanese never fully recovered from the loss of many of their best naval pilots in the two battles.

======================================
Textures included in this Texture set.
======================================

All ground textures have been modified to more closely resemble Pacific Island sand.

We've added asphalt/concrete runways to the airfield. Due to the use of bumpmaps to give the entire ground surface more realistic texture, this is as close as we can get to actual concrete.

--==Killah==--'s "USMC-41" Marine Corps Uniform Reskin.

This reskin was designed to represent the M1941 uniforms worn by members of the US Marine Corps during the battle of Midway.

*Added USMC insignia to breast pocket.
*Added period specific equipment harness.
*reskinned USMC Kabar knife.
*changed the colour of the grenade and radio to more closely reflect those actually used.
*changed some of the equipment textures to more closely resemble canvas cloth and added the US insignia where required.

--==Killah==--'s "IJN" 1942 uniform reskins.

This reskin is meant to represent the uniforms used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during the battle of Midway.

*All Soldier classes other than the Scout and Medic wear a tan canvas helmet cover with IJN insignia. (Thanks Akira!)
*Scout helmet has wide pattern helmet netting.
*The Medic helmet has been changed to a plain metal helmet and the Medic's insignia has been replaced by the IJN brass anchor.
*Changed the grenades to reflect actual grenades used by the Japanese. (They still have the potatoe masher handle)

Axis Vehicles (courtesy Akira)
-------------

All land-based armour and vehicles now display the IJN and Japanese battle insignia.

Both the Zero and Aichi Val have had riveting, body lines, shading, markings and insignia replaced and or added. As a special touch, we've also added personal photos to the instrument panels.

Note that in an effort to reduce the computer resources required during intensive battles, we've removed the alpha channels from the Japanese aircraft.

Allied Vehicles
---------------
*M3A1 is topless and has had the paint colour altered to a lighter shade of green.
*Jeep has had the colour lightened as well.
*Sherman tank has had the colour lightened, armoured divisional insignia applied, towing cable and tools added.
*Corsiar and Dauntless have had riveting, body lines, shading, markings and insignia added and/or replaced.
*Allied carrier deck has been replaced to more closely reflect the planking actually used.
