File Description

Here is a brilliant map made by Vic Jameson the story behind this exuberant map is:

"The Ruhr Valley has suffered a dramatic and violent history, never more so than on the night of 16/17 May 1943. Guy Gibson headed an audacious air-raid with a revolutionary new bomb with which he and his crews succeeded in destroying both the Mohne and the Eder dams. In the Ruhr Valley multiplayer Battlefield 1942 map by Vic Jameson you will get a chance to take on the German forces in the area as a British aircrew, forced to bail whilst taking photographs of the victory, or take on the British as a German trooper. The map features the breached dam, the valley, and the massive destruction wrought by 617 Squadron. Fight knee deep in water amongst the ruins of a village, factories and warehouses. Crawl through the rubble of houses, railway lines and smashed carriages waging war in the flooded, industrial valley."

This map is set around the Mohne Dam in the Ruhr Valley on the day
after 'Operation Chastise' had breached both the Mohne and the Eder
Dams. The Allies take the part of recon crews shot down over the
damaged structure whilst attempting to obtain photographs of the
victory, their only hope being if they can drive the Axis forces away,
allowing an Allied air rescue to take place with a significant chance
of success. The Axis forces, brought in from the Russian Front in light
of thedisaster need to hold the Allied troops back at the dam if they
stand a chance of getting reinforced by troops stationed in Essen
and Dortmund.
