Installation

First, you have to uncompress the texture files in BF1942, here's how
to do it

1- You must have the RFA extractor1.1 but to be able to use it, you
must first download the "Microsoft.NET Framework Package"download it there:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/.netframesdk/Redist/1.0/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/dotnetredist.exe
than download the RFA Extractor over there :
http://www.bf1942files.com/file.info?ID=7673

2- After downloading it, unzip the file where you want.

3- Then, open the "RFA archives" folder.

4- Open the "rfa extractor v1[1].1" folder and then the RFA Extractor.

5- In the "File" select Open then browse to your texture.rfa file in
the BF1942 folder (the location should be
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\texture.rfa
or C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Archives\texture.rfa
but it depends on where you installed the game).
If you install the icon too, you must do the same thing but with the
"menu.rfa" file.

6- After you open the "texture.rfa" file, a list of files will appear
but we don't care about this what we want to do is to click on the
"extract" menu and then on the "All files" option.
Same thing for "menu.rfa"

7- They will ask you where to extract the files, simply extract them in
your Battlefield 1942 folder (for wich the location should be :
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942).
Same thing for "menu.rfa"

8- Finally, rename the old texture.rfa file (that should be located at :
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\texture.rfa)
to something else (for exemple oldtexture.rfa), like that, the game
won't use the old files but the new ones.
Same thing for "menu.rfa"...

***********************************************************************

9- If you have installed the patch 1.3 you'll have to repeat the operations
5 to 8 but with the "texture_001.rfa" file that should be located at the same
place as "texture.rfa".
This time for the menu.rfa there's nothing to do.

If you are using Road to Rome, you must repeat the operations 5 to 8 but
with the "texture.rfa" file of Road to Rome wich should be located there:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\XPack1\Archives\texture.rfa.
If you install the icon, you must do the same things with the "menu.rfa" and
"menu_001.rfa" files of Road to Rome that are located at the same place.

Good, now your textures are uncompressed and you are ready to install the skin!

1- I suppose you have already uncompressed the "the_old_boy.zip" folder
in wich this read me was located, if not, do it now.

2-Open you new texture folder (location should be :
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\texture)
If you want to install the icon, open you "menu" folder that is located
at the same placethan "texture" than "vehicle"

3- All you have to do is to drag the files that you want to install (to know
the role of each file, refer to the "files" document that came with the skin)
in the texture folder, they will ask you if you want to overwrite the old
files, click yes (maybe you will want to keep the old texture files,
if so,before dragging the new files in your texture folder, make a copy of
the old version of the texture file that has the same name as the one you
want to install).
To install the icon, simply drag the "icon_mustang.dds" file in the vehicle folder

So that's it for the installation (ooof!), hope you enjoy your new skin!
