THE VIETNAM CONNECTION ====================== High Quality Version ====================== A Battlefield: Vietnam Movie: ============================= RELEASE DATE: ============= June 1st, 2004 (Based on events that took place during the Vietnam war.) The Golden Triangle: ==================== After the Vietnam war was well under way, the CIA and Vietnamese were trafficing large quantities of heroin within southeast Asia. Before that, The Golden Triangle was run by French Intel and the Corsican mob. After the French quit, it was taken over by US Intel with help from the Sicilian mob. The name, "The Golden Triangle" comes from the geographical area where the Mekong river runs through all the boundaries that run through Thailand, Burma and Laos. The US had used POW and MIA governmental agencies as a cover for the trafficking of opiates from the Golden Triangle. This movie is a fictional story based on true events, with a few twists. The Story: ========== A tale of two men in Vietnam from opposite sides of the war, both involved with the Golden Triangle. Rendered and compressed using DIVX 5.11 ======================================= You should have the newest DIVX Codecs installed before viewing, or you may only hear sound and no video. (Divx codecs here: http://www.divx.com/divx/) Running time: about 34 minutes ( 34 mins: 02 secs) Filesize : about 345MB (unarchived) : about 298mb (archived) The filesize would have been smaller at around 247mb, but I had to increase the audio bitrate. At the default Divx bitrate of 780, the film would go out of sync, it stayed in sync at no less than an audio bitrate of 1150, but the price for that was a larger file. The various footage was filmed in 800x600x32 & some in 1024x768x32. It was rendered in 640x480. Created, written, directed, filmed, edited: =========================================== Lt. Moonshine Pappy Boyington Cap'n Spanky Rangerdude talktwo One (Some scenes are me using two PC's myself as two different characters. The Ho Chi Minh trail tank battle and the choppers firing at the Chinook in Operation Fire Rain were also myself and bots.) MUSIC: ====== Dire Straits Creedence Clearwater Revival Deep Purple The Zombies Stuart Mitchell Lynyrd Skynyrd The Who Jimi Hendrix The Byrds Steppenwolf Neil Young Sam Cooke The Doors SOUNDS: ======= All footage was recorded without in-game sound on. It was a silent movie to begin with. I added all the sounds manually afterwards and matched them up seamlessly to each scene. Most of the sounds are taken from military sites that provide .wav and .mp3 format for download. Most of the helicoptor sounds are taken from military flight web sites. I un-RFA'd the BFV sound.rfa and used some sounds from it as well, but only a couple, (ie; some jungle ambience, and a couple others, NVA voices, etc). My apologies to the Vietnamese, I don't speak vietnamese and didn't know anyone to do proper voice overs for the VC parts, and used the BFV voices to make do for certain talk scenes. So, to Vietnamese people, these particular talking scenes won't make the least bit of sense to, and might even give you a laugh. Other Sounds: ============= "Dude? Where's My Car?" clip Full Metal Jacket clips Cadence clip Painkiller (tunnels ambience) AVP2 (ambience) Half-Life - 22 - Jungle Drums clip Maps & Mods Credits: ==================== Mods: ===== Recruit Snyder's Vietnam 1.0 C (Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org) Battlefield Vietnam Movie Edition v1.0 (Contact: http://www.planetbattlefield.com/battlefieldnl) Maps: ===== The Jungle Hunt V2 (Contact: [GSS]GI.Joe - http://www.junglehunt.online.ms/) Canyons (Contact: =DB4D=GeorgeFornby <aka Mike> - http://www.sunteamsoftware.co.uk/) Plantation Raid (Contact: sorry, there was no readme included, nor any author contact info on the BFV sites) Thanks to DICE for making the game.
