Skin PAck!! Changes the English, US, and Russian forces. From the email:
the BF1942 VS-UK clan is based on the 7 Battalion, 3rd Parachute Brigade of the 6th Airborne Division. A soldier's unit was designated by a series of patches on the sleeves of the blouse. At the top of the sleeve, at or near the seam, were sewn the regimental patches. For the parachute regiment these patches were originally white on maroon, but later changed to black/navy wording 'Parachute Regiment' on a light blue background. If a soldier in the airborne division
had qualified in the parachute role (as opposed to the glider borne role) they would wear a jump qualification badge. This badge has a white/tan winged parachute on a khaki background. Next came the divisional patch, or 'flash'. For both the 1st and 6th Airborne divisions (as well as their support units) this patch is the famous white/blue pegasus on a maroon backing. This symbol represents the Greek mythological figure Belleraphon riding Pegasus. Beneath the divisional patches were airborne titles. These served as 'arm of service' indicators. These were more often worn by supporting troops and glider troops, and later officially proscribed in the parachute regiments. Happy Skinnig!
**NOTE IF YOU HAVE THE MERCILESS ADD_ON THIS README DOSNT APPLY TO YOU, READ OTHER README IN ZIP** ============== BATTLEFIELD ============== xxx 1942 xxx ============== VS-UK "Historic Soldier Skin Pack" Includes: * (VS-UK) 6th 3/7para uniforms (replaces Russian, American and Brittish) ==================== TO USE THESE FILES ==================== To use these files in the Retail version, you'll need Moseley's RFA Extractor to unpack the Refractor Flat Archive (textures.rfa). If you haven't already, download it at http://www.bf1942.com or http://www.bf1942central.com Note: RFA Extractor requires Microsoft's .net Framework update to run. Download it at: http://download.microsoft.com/download/.netframesdk/Redist/1.0/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/dotnetredist.exe Note: After installing the .net Framework (SDK) you may need to download the msvcr70.dll and mscoree.dll files. Get 'em at: www.dll-files.com , unzip and copy to your C:\Windows\system folder\. ========================= EXTRACT THE RFA ARCHIVE ========================= Use RFA Extractor to uppack your "EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\mods\bf942\Archives\texture.rfa" (EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\archives\ if you havent modded BF before) file to the main game root directory "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942" RFA Explorer will automatically create the "texture" folder when you unpack. Remove the original texture.rfa archive to a safe place outside the Battlefield 1942 directory. (leave the newly created "texture" directory and contents in the games root, it will reconise it there) You should now have the following directory structure: AdminTool Archives cache eReg Logs Movies MultiplayerServers texture <-- Here's your new folder ======================== EXTRACT THE .DDS FILES ======================== Extract the included .dds files from the .zip archive to "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\texture". * Overwrite the existing textures. *Deletion of the new "texture" directory and returning the original "texture.rfa" file to its original location (EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\mods\bf1942\archives\) will return game to original skin config. Run the game! Enjoy ! Cheers!
