File Description

Battlefield 2: Australian Forces is a singleplayer and multiplayer modification for the team-based modern warfare game Battlefield 2. The aim of the Australian Forces modification is to replace the United States forces with Australian forces; including new player, weapon and vehicles skins, HUD changes, and the potential for new weapons and vehicles in future releases.

This is the mod many Australian players have been waiting for – the chance to take on the world as highly-respected Australian Forces! This is version 0.1, which is to act as a little taster for people to have a look at what the mod is about, and hopefully get skilled people interested in helping out with mapping and modelling. The idea is to add the Steyr and Australian vehicles in future updates - but this will require a lot of help.

As far as uniforms go, they are still in the working stages. Please, no emails about how they webbing is incorrect. An unoffical Australian Forces news and chat thread can be found on the Internode Games Network forums: http://games.internode.on.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48265

* Notes *

Single Player: Australian Forces is 100% compatible with single player.

Multiplayer:	This mod cannot be used on ranked servers at this stage, it is a standalone mod.
There have been no changes to guns, damage, or any code changes which would in
theory impact on using this mod with a ranked server, but given that such servers
must adhere to strict EA rules, no modifications can be made. Plus, you would be
kicked for using modified files.

What does this mean? Well you are going to have to make your own server, play it
at a LAN, play single player, or find a reliable ISP to host a server. Sorry, but
that's the downside of ranked servers.

* Updates/Changes *

Version v 0.1
---------------------------------
- Australian player skins
- Australian flag skin
- Anthem changes
- Hud changes
- Various menu changes
- Blood added
- Default SP bots set to 24, skill 0.8

========================
* Known Issues *

May not work properly once the 1.1 (1.03) patch comes out.

=====================
* Play Information *

Game                    : Battlefield 2
Type                    : Singleplayer/Multiplayer
Supported Modes  	: ALL
Requires                : Battlefield 2 1.02 Patch

=====================
* Installation *

1. Check that you do not have a previous copy of Australian Forces installed.
If you already have a folder called "bf2aus" in your Battlefield 2 mod
directory then it is best you delete it before installing the newer version.

2. Unzip (extract) the file ""bf2aus_01.zip"" to your Battlefield 2 mod
directory, with directory structure intact. It is important that you keep the
directory structure intact; otherwise the mod will not work.
In WinZip, make sure the box "Use folder names" is ticked. Similar programs
should also have this feature.

On most machines your Battlefield 2 mod directory should be located at:
'C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods'.

This assumes that the game is install on C drive, if your game is installed on
another drive, such as D drive, then it would most likely be
'C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods'.

3. Go into your Levels directory under the Australian Forces mod directory:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2aus\Levels

Here you will find two batch files "Australian Forces v0.1 Setup - All Maps.bat".
To be able to actually use any mod you must have maps, which will require you
to copy some from Battlefield 2.

By running "Australian Forces v0.1 Setup - All Maps.bat", this will copy every map from
Battlefield 2, which is over 600MB. It may take a little time to copy the maps, depending
on your system.

NOTE: You can copy the map/s folder manually from the Battlefield 2 folder.

4. This is all we need to do to install the mod. There are two methods to run the mod:

- Through Battlefield 2, by going to the Community tab, then into Custom Games.
- By running the shortcut "Australian Forces v0.1.bat" in the Weapon Tester mod folder.

Using the shortcut is much quicker and easier.

5. Have fun.

========================
* Troubleshooting *

Q: I don't see any maps?
A: Read section 3. You need to run the batch file to copy the maps.

Q: Can I play this on ranked servers?
A: No.

Q: There are too many/not enough bots in single player?
A: Go into the AI folder and open AIDefault.ai.

aiSettings.setMaxNBots 24

The code above changes the number of bots in a SP game. Change this value to anything between
1 and 64, although your computer may have trouble running large numbers of bots on a small map.

Q: The bots in single player are too skilled/unskilled?
A: Go into the AI folder and open AIDefault.ai.

aiSettings.setBotSkill 0.8

The code above changes the skill level of bots in a SP game. Change this value to anything
between 0.1 and 1.0. 0.1 is noob, 1.0 is elite.
