BF2 5.56mm Full Metal Jacket is a multiplayer modification which basically succeeds a Mod originally designed for Doom³. After a year of development I could get an idea of what comes into creating a complete modification for a next generation game. I then decided to switch to Battlefield 2 due to its features that I always wanted to have implented into my mod. This and its excellent stereo 3d performance got me finally moving from Doom³ to Battlefield 2.
Battlefield 2: 5.56mm Full Metal Jacket (beta version 0.75) AUTHOR: Oneofthe8devilz E-mail: Oneofthe8devilz@hotmail.com Homepage: http://www.dnacs.de/bf2-556mm-fmj/ INSTALLATION Once you downloaded the rar file, unrar it and run the file "bf2_556mmfmj_installer_beta_v075.msi". Make sure to install the mod to your "Battlefield²\Mods" Folder so point to it (Example C:\games\Battlefield²\Mods)..Once the installation is complete, a shortcut called "BF2 5.56mm FMJ" is created on your desktop...... Double click the shortcut and play.......... IMPORTANT ISSUES: 1. I support only the version 1.03 (although it might work with the latest version aswell) for content change reasons. I just couldn't get over the fact that the developers chose to remove water splashes (from small arms bullets) and overgrowth shadows (no vehicle/player shadowing by trees and bushes) without leaving an option or a way to somehow reenable them....... A request at the official forums has been left unanswered....... 2. Standart Dedicated and Coop dedicated hosting To run standart or coop dedicated servers and to change the coop level size simply click the according shortcut from the "programs/bf2 5.56mm full metal jacket/dedicated server config" menu When changing for the first time the coop map size (coop size changer) the dos window might want you to specify whether it is a File or Directory it should write to... Press "D" for directory when prompted.... Always make sure that both, the host and the client are set to the same coop map size (16 and 16 or 64 and 64) since otherwise the client won't be able to connect (and will drop to desktop) if the host is set to a different coop map size. In order to play standart multiplayer make sure that both (host and clients) are set to coop size "16" Once the host is up and running simply connect to it over "Multiplayer", "Join Local" or "Join Internet" and type in its IP or DNS Name..... 3. Issues if hosting on a gaming machine (playing and hosting on the same computer) Issue: Most likely after having played on a map, loading a new map through the game menu will cause the Host to drop to desktop (only if a client already was connected before) Solution: Just restart the Mod before changing to another map Issue: Host will drop to desktop if clients try to connect to it before it finished loading the map Solution: Wait till the server has completely loaded the map before connecting to it Issue: Shaders on some machines sometimes display low quality although set to high quality Solution: Set quality to high and re-adjust resolution and AA settings (800x600 140 Hz, 2xAA) ===================================== Thank you for downloading and installing the BF2 5.56mm FMJ Mod ! It kinda kills the "arcade feeling" of the original battlefield 2 and actually turns it into a more tactical based shooter....
