File Description

The famous BCSelector has returned, this time with a brand spanking new version. Note to all: This is for the full DEMO VERSION OF BRIDGE COMMANDER.

BC selector is a program that allows you to play with many different ships that come with the Demo of Bridge Commander.

This no way adds any ships to the demo, it only uses what is in the demo as it is.

New additions to this Selector are as follows:

This new version 2.0.6 can change your own bridge and class, and that of your enemies' ships too. In Quick Battle, you’re now able to fly in a Sovereign, Akira, Nebula class or any other ship that is available and to fight against them. You can replace your own Galaxy and the enemy Warbird and Bird of Prey with the following ships:

Sovereign Galaxy Nebula Ambassador Akira Shuttle Warbird

Bird of Prey

============= Bridge Selector XP ==============
Bridge Selector XP 2.0.6 - MOD for the demo of Star Trek: Bridge Commander only.
--------------------------------------------------------

================= Overview ==================
This new version 2.0.6 can change your own brigde and class, and that of your enemies' ships too. In Quick Battle, you’re now able to fly in a Sovereign, Akira, Nebula class or any other ship that is available and to fight against them. You can replace your own Galaxy and the enemy Warbird and Bird of Prey with the following ships:
	• Sovereign
	• Galaxy
	• Nebula
	• Ambassador
	• Akira
	• Shuttle
	• Warbird
	• Bird of Prey
---------------------------------------------------------------------

================== Backup ==================
Note that in version 1.0.x you had to backup your Brigde Commander files manually. This procedure is now integrated in this new version. If you have not done the backup yet, you'll see a button captioned 'Backup' in the main Bridge Selector XP window. If you see this button enabled, you must click it and perform a backup of the files. Otherwise, if you skip the backup, it's probable that you'll corrupt your BC files. If you don't see that button left of the 'About' button your BC files are already backed up and you don't need to do it again. Even worse, you may corrupt your BC files if you do the backup again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

=============== Saved Settings ===============
An other new feature is that the program saves your last actions. For example, if you have changed the Bird of Prey into a Nebula class ship, the next time you start the program it will highlight that vessel in the Bird of Prey combobox. This comes in handy when you forgot wich changes you have made or when you just want to change one ship without selecting any other options (it saves you some time too ;-)).
---------------------------------------------------------------------

================== Options ==================
Because Bridge Selector XP uses batch files to perform some operations, DOS commando's are still needed. However the command for removing a directory is different for Windows NT/2000/XP and the 9x/ME versions. Therefor, it is necessary to select wich Windows version you are using. You can select it in the Options window. The program has a built in Windows detection and it will show you wich version of Windows you have, detected by the program. So, if you are not sure wich version to choose, refer to this information and select the version that has been detected by the program.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

============= Behind the scenes ==============
Originally, Bridge Selector changes the files of the demo by running some batch files. This method has not been altered, but the batch files are now integrated in the executable itself. It will extract and execute the necessary batch files. though it's not affecting the way you see the program working.

=================== Note ===================
This feature is NOT supported! Use it at your OWN risk!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

=================== Extra ===================
I made this program in Visual Basic 6. And I've found a manifest that let you add Windows XP Themed Controls. Very nice, but it gives an error everytime you close the program. Additionally, some texts in the options window were displayed black for some reason I don't know. To fix the first problem, you have to set the compatible mode of the program to Windows 98/ME and it will works fine. The second problem cannot be fixed, unfortunately.Therefor, I've choosen to exclude this option in the program. All XP users will see the standard controls.
If you still want those themed controls, you can add them by a little fix. Just rename the file REM.THIS.BCSelector.EXE.MANIFEST to BCSelector.EXE.MANIFEST and you will see the XP Themed Controls but you'll have the errors too, it's just what you want.
If the program won't run at all, you probably need to install the Visual Basic Runtimes. You can get them at: http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/VBRun60sp5.exe
---------------------------------------------------------------------

================== Finally ===================
I hope you'll enjoy this program. Thanks to Smash for the original concept and Daan for the LCARS graphics.

=================== T3D ====================
In the chapter above I thanked Smash and Daan. Together we established a developer group, called T3D. T3D stands for The 3 Dutchmen, as we are all Dutch :-).
Off course, we can't live without a website. So here is it: www.the3d.tk or www.the3dutchmen.tk. Use the address whichever you like or can remember ;-).
