README

This is a slight visual and hardpoint modification of the Cardassian Galor-class I had on hand which is credited to Michael Frederick (A.K.A. - Zorg/Morpheus). Original credits for the model stand, and are listed at the end of this readme. While not canon to the series, it has certainly made my Cardassian encounters a bit more enjoyable, and I will probably release a Keldon that has been similarly modified at a later date.

  Background/Commentary
It has always puzzled me why the Cardassians have relied on the Galor-class vessel for so long. While the space-frame is solidly dependable, good for extended service and versatility in fleet operations, the Galor is nothing that anyone would want to be caught having to fight in more than briefly. It repairs very slowly, has about as much firepower as a monkey flinging it's poo, and steers like a brick with a rocket booster crazy-glued to the arse-end.

The most obvious reason for this is due to the design's configuration not making much sense, at least, to me. Federation, Klingon, Romulan, even Dominion vessels have designs that simply make sense for their fleet roles. This is not said to disparage Cardassian ship designers as the design itself is quite solid. However, given the Galor's relative weakness to other ships, the configuration of various internals is nothing short of a disaster, and explains a great deal of Cardassia's issues on the battlefield.

  Changes
Noticeable improvements from the standard Galor are visually slight, but profound. The two warp engines have been removed in favor of a single, larger warp engine in the former impulse drive housing and parts of the engineering section. Appropriately, impulse engines now reside in the old warp engine housings. Since all three engines are smaller than the models they replaced, there has been a net increase of available internal volume. Moving the impulse engines and changing how they distribute forces across the hull has allowed for a more stable and easier to maintain structural integrity field while boosting the ship's sub-light maneuverability. Various other subsystems have been simplified and onboard space has been better optimized, lowering repair difficulties. A small shuttlebay and a tractor beam system have been added. The forward beam has been replaced by quartet of new compressor arrays, and the massive gaps in it's compressor arcs have been narrowed considerably. Finally, the sensor system has been improved somewhat, though is a bit more exposed than it used to be.

  Installation
Installation of this ship is a standard drag and drop affair, and will not overwrite your stock Galor. I named the ship the Ghemor subtype specifically for this reason.

  Note
The ship's hardpoint is balanced to my personal install. Weapon and shield values may require adjustment in the hardpoint tweaker or mpe to properly suit your own. Wine users as usual should keep an eye on mixed case errors. There are no known bugs.

  Prerequisites
Ftech, with KM 1.0 recommended.
