File Description

many MANY Armada 2 (A2) Federation Model Conversions to .NIF (Bridge Commander) by: MJAY this is A conversion of select ship models w/textures from Star Trek Armada 2, TO Star Trek Bridge Commander.

these are models only, they have NO hardpoints

Read the readme, it does have some very important information

Note to Mjay when you include screenshots put them in jpg format , not bmp. We are aware that BMP is the format BC uses to make sceenshots but for our purposes, we need them converted into jpg format, IN future do this conversion

Armada 2 (A2) Federation Models

What (is this)?
------------------
A conversion of select ship models w/textures from Star Trek Armada 2, TO Star Trek Bridge Commander.

Why?
-------
To reduce video memory consumption in Bridge Commander (inherent in a number of BC models)...
Therefore making "large scale" battles (battles involving numerous ships), less system resource intensive.
Simply put, to help reduce LAG when you have a bunch of ships on screen at once.

How (does this video memory preservation work)?
-------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know. -_-
If you MUST know HOW, down to the very last binary command, ask someone who speaks "computer greek".

Where (would I INSTALL these files)?
----------------------------------------------
No where. These files DO NOT HAVE HARDPOINTS. They must be hardpointed, "plugged-in", and made (if you want)
100% compatible with KM 1.0's mods (selectable warp speeds, shuttling, point defence phasers, etc.). I will
personally get around to doing this... but for now... conversions will do...

Okay, MJAY... Cool... Anything else I should know bugs, legal talk, etc.?
----------------------------------------------------------
Yes. The Saber and Nebula classes were NOT included with this conversion. As I am a novice with converting
(this being my first time), a couple of the models have some "minor" imperfections, and I DO NOT know how
to repair them... I will look into this another time. My conversions were done with Milkshape 3D 1.8.1b w/the
.Nif Importer/Exporter available at this site (BCFiles).

The Defiant conversion has some serious texture streaching on the ventral side, and looks like it's missing a piece
of its deflector. It's bad, but I like the Defiant, so I included it.
Textures seem inverted on the Intrepid class' nacelles and it's missing a couple small textures on the dorsal side
of the saucer... but for me... it was tolerable enough for me to still include it.
The Akira class, also suffers from texture inversion on its nacelles, but it's the most tolerable of the three.

The condition of all models was confirmed in MPE (Model Property Editor), and tested in-game. They seemed to damage
pretty good. However, entire sections of the ships would disappear after sustaining catastrophic visible damage.

The included screenshots are showing up to 150 Sovereign Class Armada2 models on screen at once... That was my EXACT
limit on this computer before the slightest lag.
The machine I'm working with is not a gaming pc (workstation at car dealership, internet sales computer xD). Uses a
64mb card, 512 mb ram, 2.5 ghz processing. It's rather below average as far as gaming PCs go. If I can hit about 150 A2
units on this piece of crap at work, then these models should work number miracles for you high-enders.

YES. I KNOW. The units DO NOT have glows. My workstation doesn't even have Photosuite for me to use the TGA editor to
create some. I have inquired of a few people for HELP in putting in glows for the textures, but my emails have gone
(rather LARGELY) unanswered.
So I am ALSO REQUESTING AID IN PUTTING IN GLOWS. Any and ALL help appreciated in advance.

My copy of Milkshape 3D is trial... I can't keep it on the computer here at the job. (My PC at home is just some piece
of crap I assembled, with leftover parts from my original gaming pc (gaming pc now defunct), so I can't use it for BC.)
So while I have Milkshape, I will be converting ALL Armada2 SHIPS... except the ones already done (TFC, Aegian class,
Iwo Jima, etc.) to BC, and I am requesting help for the various glows.

You can reach me at Jathnael at yahoo dot com... Or send a private messege to True Mjay (my co-worker, buddy)
 at the File Front forums.

Okay a legal statement (I sure hope this protects me in court...)
YOU (the user) AGREE NOT TO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, APPROACH ME WITH A LAWSUIT, A DEMONIC CURSE/SPELL,
OR THE JUDGMENT OF GOD BY DOWNLOADING OR AGREEING TO DOWNLOAD AND USE THESE CONVERSIONS. YOU AGREE TO NOT
APPROACH ME IN THE AFOREMENTIONED MANNERS, IF USE OF THESE MODELS CAUSES YOU AND/OR YOUR COMPUTER (A) PROBLEM(S)
 OF ANY NATURE.

lmfao... xD ok. despite the rather hilarious terms, it's all serious. -_-
I heard I was supposed to always drop a disclaimer into the readme... you just never know...

Hey, MJAY. You forgot "When?"!!
