Bridge Commander Mission Builder Manual

By Simon “SimRex” Withers

1. Installation
The mission builder comes as a self-extracting executable. Just run the .exe file and follow the instructions.

2. Setup
To setup the mission builder, run the program. Click “Configure” to set your Bridge Commander directory. Note, you MUST set your BC directory here. The mission builder generates most of its menus from the data in that directory. If it is not present, the mission builder will not work correctly.

3. Making a Campaign
The mission builder is fairly straightforward, although there are a few potential areas of confusion.

Campaign Screen Notes:
1. You must have an Episode highlighted before you click Add Mission
2. You must have a Mission highlighted before you click Edit Mission
3. You do not need to enter a TGL file in the Episode TGL box. If you leave it blank, the builder will put a default entry in. The default entry is Data\TGL\Maelstrom\Episode 1\Episode1.tgl
4. You do not need to enter a TGL file in the Campaign TGL box. If you leave it blank, the builder will put a default entry in. The default entry is Data\TGL\Maelstrom\Maelstrom.tgl
5. You must have at least one episode, one mission, and a campaign name before you can build your campaign.
6. Saving your campaign will create a .BCCam file. Future versions of the mission builder will either be backwards compatible with this format, or will come with a converter.

Mission Screen Notes:
1. To see the planets you have put in for a certain system, you must highlight the system, then click “Update Planet List”.
2. You must Add Planets before you can put ships in those systems.

4. Bug reporting
To report a bug, send an e-mail to simrex@hotmail.com stating clearly in the subject line that it is a bug report for the BCMB. In the e-mail, please detail the symptoms of the bug and if there was an error message in the console window (the one you have to press “Enter” to leave) please include that error message in your bug report.

While the mission builder is still in development, a couple of buttons on the Mission Screen will not work, but they will pop up a window explaining this. Please do not e-mail me to tell me about this. It is a known omission, and I am working to put those features in.

Please stop by the BC Scripting forum at www.bridgecommandernetwork.com if you have any other problems.
