Icarus Assault Shuttle

caicarusassaultshuttle.zip —

Description

The Icarus Class Assault Shuttle was developed as part of Starfleet’s new initiative into providing more capable auxiliary vessels in order to fulfill the variety of missions encountered by ships of the Federation. Designed primarily as an assault craft, the Icarus is equipped with both phasers and torpedo tubes. Additionally Starfleet decided to equip Icarus class shuttles with the experimental Tri-Cobalt Mine that is deployed through an aft launcher of the vessel and designed to disable the shields of enemy vessels and allow marines to be transported over quickly. The Tri-Cobalt Mine has been considerably modified since the torpedo variant was banned due the subspace damage they caused and now the Tri-Cobalt warhead no longer possesses the extreme yield which caused subspace damage. This allows the Tri-Cobalt mine to be a suitable weapon for assault craft.

Tactical Analysis:
Icarus Class Assault Shuttle possesses:

*11 Light Phasers
*4 Torpedo Launchers (Photon & Quantum)
*Experimental Tri-Cobalt Mine

While the Icarus Class is a capable vessel its main purpose is to transport marines to a target destination to perform military duties which arise. The shielding of the Icarus is sufficient to withstand weapon fire from enemy vessels in a combat situation and the weapons are capable of inflicting damage if it is required. The Tri-Cobalt mine should be deployed within a close target range as the tracking capability is limited and therefore an accurate deployment is necessary. An additional feature of the mine launching device is its ability to replicate the Tri-Cobalt mine providing there is sufficient energy to do so, this makes the shuttle an efficient and reliable vessel.
