This adds new planatery textures with a much higher resolution than the originals that came with BC.
From the screenshot you can see just how detailed these ones are. NOTE: For the lower ends systems this may slow down for you, so you may need to adjust some eye candy in your bc options.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a modification of the original game Star Trek:Bridge Commander by Totally Games and Activision. Neither party has authorized this mod, and therefore bear no responsibility to any affect it may have on the game. Buyer Beware! Also, some of these texture maps are up to five-times larger than the originals. This means that low-end systems may have trouble loading in the larger maps. These maps are recomended for higher-end systems with more memory on the video card. In-game, the planets are most clearly seen in the Map mode, so tell your helm to orbit the planet, then hit "M" to see a larger view of the system. In close orbit, the planetary details begin to blur. That being said, here's how to install the new high-resolution planetary skins. 0) We recommend backing up the original files, in to easily replace the files if anything goes wrong. 1) Find your Bridge Commander directory, usually in Program Files/Activision 2) find this folder- Bridge Commander:data:Models:Environment 3) Unzip all the new skins into this folder. They will replace the current ".tga" files. 4) Dive in and take a look! These replace skins in both Quick Battle and the Single Player Campaign. I have included two lists: Skinlist shows which planetary skins are used in which systems, and the SystemList, which is a rundown on what each system is like. TanGasPlanet has a new high-resolution scan of our own Jupiter, and most other planets have been sharpened or redrawn from other sources. More mods to come. Let me know what you think. Have fun!
