Here's the anticipated re-release of my Medal of Honor Sounds for CoD2 with the requested amplification of new sounds, as well as a small addition and a few fixes to the stock game and the mod itself. :) Check out the new stuff below, and give it a download. ;)

Note: If you e-mail me, please include an appropriate subject line so your e-mail is not mistaken for junk. -------------------------------------------------------- What's New? -Amplified new sounds for better balance with stock sounds (see explanation below) -New sound: Replaced CoD anti-tank rifle with MoHBT PZB41 (heard in the "Armored Car Escape" mission) -Removed five superfluous sounds -Fixed stock CoD2SP soundalias glitch: Friendly CPU Thompsons used M1 Garand fire sound Amplification: I spent a number of hours revamping thousands of the CoD2 soundaliases to match the original stock Medal of Honor volume and pitch levels, only to find that in CoD2 soundalias definitions you can't specify a volume value greater than 1 (the range is 0-1). As you may know, I scripted a lot for regular CoD and CoDUO, both of which allowed volumes greater than 1 in the soundalias definitions. The fact that CoD2 does not allow this renders my extensive soundalias work useless for this mod because many of the MoH volumes go well above 1. With that in mind, as a workaround I arbitrarily amplified all new MoH sounds in this mod by +3dB (with the exceptions of the voices and the menu music) and reduced all volume values greater than 1 in the soundaliases to a flat 1. The result is an overall amplification, as was requested, and a solid one at that -- just not an exact port of sound and pitch levels from MoH as was originally desired. For modders interested in the three soundalias files included in the IWD, they represent the various stages of "iw_sound2.csv" as I worked around the amplification problems: "iw_sound2.csv.bak.no_vol_changes" (no volume changes for the new sounds), "iw_sound2.csv.bak.vols_above_1" (exact port of MoH volume and pitch levels with many above 1 -- invalid), and the active "iw_sound2.csv" with all the invalid volumes floor-rounded to 1. -------------------------------------------------------- Features All sounds in this mod come from either Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, its first expansion (Spearhead), or its second expansion (Breakthrough). Some of the included sounds will only be heard in single-player. The following is a brief list of what new sounds come with this mod: -Weapon sounds as follows (incl. all fire and reload sounds unless otherwise noted): -Anti-tank rifle ("Armored Car Escape" mission, no reload sound) -BAR -Bren (from MoHBT Vickers) -Colt and TT30 -Flak 88 -Gewehr 43 (scoped and unscoped) -Kar98k (scoped and unscoped) -Lee-Enfield (scoped and unscoped) -Luger (from MoH Walther P38) -M1 Garand -MG42 (no reload sound) -Mortar -Mosin-Nagant (scoped and unscoped) -MP40 -MP44 -Nebelwerfer (no reload sound) -Panzerschreck (no reload sound) -PPSh and PPS42 -Shotgun -Springfield -Sten -SVT40 -Thompson -Webley (no reload sound) -multi-player Russian voice commands (now actually in Russian) -various Russian interjections for single-player -38 explosion (incl. grenades, mortars, etc.) -21 explosion "incoming" -58 bullet impact sounds -21 whizby -31 miscellaneous (incl. menu sounds, player foley, grenade foley, melee, etc.) -menu music -24 body fall -62 footstep/jump/crawl -12 door/gate/hatch -6 glass break -------------------------------------------------------- Notes For most Call of Duty 2 players of this mod, it's safe to say that the new 'real-Russian' multi-player voices will suffice. That is, those able to understand the language will find that maybe two or three phrases don't match up to the text, but for the most part, the stock text is an adequate representation of what the spoken Russian means. -------------------------------------------------------- Installation Place the CoD2 mod file ("user-MoHSoundsForCoD2_v2_xXezekielXx.iwd") in your 'Activision\Call of Duty 2\main' directory. To uninstall a mod, delete the appropriate mod file from your "main" directory. -------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer You may not profit from or redistribute this package without my explicit permission.
