"In the realm of sound, Call of Duty does an excellent job of recreating the deafening cacophony of war; the shrill whistles of incoming artillery fire segue suddenly into ear-shattering explosions, while MG-42 nests spit out hot lead to a staccato, pneumatic drill-like bark; incoming tanks generate a low, ominous rumble, usually followed by the distressed cries of stricken infantry. As regards spoken parts, the quality of the voice acting is commendable, with thespians such as Jason Statham and Giovanni Ribisi affecting American, Russian and British accents to deliver their lines, and there's even some regional variation to the latter. Orchestral in nature, the music score is favorably reminiscent of the soundtracks featured in Hollywood war productions, evoking the dramatic mood of the era.
