Here's an update to the final version of the CoD map Rural Rumble, which features the following changes and fixes:

  • Added a nighttime version of the map
  • Added a trigger_hurt underneath the map in case ways are found to get under the map
  • Added/tweaked the cover in some areas
  • Tweaked the portals in some areas
  • Slightly increased the ambient lighting in the nighttime version

These maps were designed to work with the original Call of Duty (CoD) version 1.5.  I cannot guarantee them to work with older versions of CoD or in conjunction with any mods, nor will I make any effort to make them compatible with any mods/older versions that they may not work with.  Any feedback I receive regarding this will be ignored.  They should work with the United Offensive (UO) expansion pack for CoD version 1.51, but they will lack the vehicles and the extra game types that the UO version supports.  However the sound effects I've placed in the maps and artillery should work properly now for UO.  

**********************************BACKGROUND STORY******************************************

These maps are based in a fictional location in France During World War II.  I'm sure the architecture and landscape aren't very accurate by any means.  German scouts have taken up residence at an upscale hotel located out in the rural countryside.  The Americans have set up their headquarters at a nearby farm and church.  Retrieval will have the Germans trying to recapture an artillery map and code book that the Americans have stolen. Search & Destroy will have the Americans trying to take out either a German tiger tank or one of their Flak guns.

***************************INSTALLATION/USAGE INSTRUCTIONS**********************************

I would recommend first deleting any older versions of Rural Rumble before proceeding.  Extract the .pk3 file to your C:\Program Files\Call of Duty\main folder (or wherever your main folder is located if you chose an alternate location to install the game to).  This .pk3 file contains two .bsp files:  mp_rural_rumble_d (day) and mp_rural_rumble_n (night).  To uninstall these maps simply delete the .pk3.
