File Description

Hi folks! Here's the new version of Junuxx's Atlas Map Generator!

Atlas is a map creator made in Java, and is actually better than the standard map creator in many ways. The last version, 0.34b was pretty good, and if this is better, it's ruling!

This is one of the tools you MUST download! Good that we have three mirrors then ;)

It comes with an installer, and is therefore extremely easy to install.

1. SETUP

A) Unzip the package Atlas035.zip to some temporary directory, you can delete it later
B) Double-click on install.bat
C) Start the program by going to Start->Programs->Atlas Map Generator
D) Mess with the controls until you have generated a map you like
E) Press save and name your file. Save it in the folder C:\My Documents\My Games\Civ IV\Saves\WorldBuilder
F) Start Civilization 4
G) Click Single player, Play Scenario, choose 'Atlas' or whatever name you gave the file
H) The rest should be obvious ;-)

2. MANUAL INSTALLATION

If you have a non-English windows version or if you would like to have Atlas installed somewhere else than the default C:\Program Files\MapGenerator,
here is how to install the Atlas manually.

	A) Go to the folder where you want Atlas, for example C:\Civ4Utilities or N:\Programs\Junuxx\Atlas

	B) Make a new folder (File>New>Folder) and name it Atlas or something like that.

	C) Unzip the file you downloaded here

D) You can now double-click start.bat to launch Atlas. You can add a shortcut to your start menu or desktop if you like. You can even set the shortcut to use the icon included. Search for a Windows tutorial if you don't know how to add a shortcut or change its icon.

3. COLOR LEGEND

4. TROUBLESHOOTING AND KNOWN ISSUES

If Atlas doesn’t work on your pc, the first thing you should try is checking your Java version.
Atlas does not work with Java Runtime Environment versions below 1.5.0

I still haven’t investigated this a lot, but I believe Civ isn’t very happy with ‘wild’ coastal waters.
