This USA mission is set in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and is very loosely based on the film "Apocalypse Now". You play the part of the Americans, your enemy are Vietnamese Communist guerrillas, the Vietcong. Referred to also as VC or ‘Charlie’. You'll be tasked with escorting a PT Boat up river to the main base...and along the way you'll encounter the enemy and be given orders. Cut scenes throughout the mission make this one fun and interesting to play. Just remember to keep moving along the river to your right till you reach your final destination...the American Base.
Message received 19:00 from trans ops: Saigon Commander, this is a most critical assignment. CIA ‘Phoenix’ operatives are planning a classified mission to take out a series of top Vietcong officers. As part of this mission a PT Boat must rendezvous with a ‘Phoenix’ team at a base about 5 clicks up the Do Lung River. Your squad is ordered to provide security for this boat. The mouth of the Do Lung River is well guarded, and so Air Cavalry will attack first to secure your LZ. Once the beach is secured you can begin moving in land. Any obstacles must be eradicated. The mission will be launched at 22:00, prepare your men immediately. Key Points: · Other missions are taking place in the area, assist where possible. · The PT Boat will only move once you have scouted the river ahead and ensured there are no enemy ahead. · The jungle is swarming with VC – Try to stay near the river where possible. Notes: This mission is set in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and is very loosely based on the film Apocalypse Now. You play the part of the Americans, your enemy are Vietnamese Communist guerrillas the Vietcong, referred to also as VC or ‘Charlie’. To install copy the file ‘Charlie Dont Surf’ into the ‘Maps’ file located in ‘Command and Conquer Generals Data’ in turn located in ‘My Documents’. There is an ‘issue’ with a random bit of sky being drawn onto the sand during the intro sequence – this doesn’t affect the game but any suggestions as to how to deal with it would be greatly appreciated.
