This will rotate your "boink", purchase, and gameover sound with a variety of cool appropriate soundbytes from the game. Users can easily add their own sounds to the rotation.

Before you play Renegade, * * just run BlazeRotate.bat and minimize the window. * * * * Q: What does it Do? * * A: BlazeRotate randomly replaces some of the renegade game sounds while you * * are playing. The sounds rotated are the "boink" sound, the end of match * * sound, and the "Keep em Coming!" sound. All sounds are Renegade samples. * * By default it will rotate the sounds every 30 seconds. You can change the* * rotation delay by editing BlazerRotate.bat * * * * Q: Is this gonna screw up my game? * * A: Absolutely not. If you dont like blazerotate, just delete the files/dirs * * the files listed above from your Renegade/Data folder. * * * * Q: Can I distribute this? * * A: You sure can. Please give me credit though. I have digitally fingerprinted* * These wav files, and I can tell if they are mine even if you edit them! * * * * Q: Cool! How does it work? * * A: BlazeRotate comes with 3 directories of game sounds: "Boinks", "Purchase" * * and "GameOver". A RANDOM wav from each directory is chosen and copied to * * the data directory (sound files in the dir override the internal ones). * * * * Q: What If i want to use my own sounds, or add sounds? * * A: No Problem! Thats why I made the directory structure. Just drop more wav * * files in the directories (make sure they are appropriate for the actions).* * * * Q: How did you figure out what files are which sounds? * * A: A combination of "filemon" from www.sysinternals.com, and just browsing * * and listening to all the wavs in always.dat. There are SO many in there! * * I'm talking about TONS of wav files, that arent even used in the game yet.* * Also from creating "Blazers CountdownMod 1.0" I have literally listened * * to EVERY sample in the game (whew!) * * * * Q: Whats with the 1.0 version number? * * A: I plan on releasing other mods, including one which has taunts spoken by * * the opposing team when nukes go off, buildings destroyed, etc. * * * * Q: Aren't the mod tools out? Why didnt you just make this a PKG? * * A: 1. No way to RANDOMLY change sounds in the game while playing * * 2. As it looks now, Renegade mods have to include a map, which means you * * cannot for example create a mod that simply changes the "boink" sound * * for all existing maps. * * * * Q: Why did you use sleep.exe instead of the "ping trick" or "choice trick"? * * A: 1. I am allready using rc.exe, so trying to avoid using EXE files is moot.* * 2. The "choice trick" doesnt work on Win2K * * 3. The "ping trick" uses WAY too much CPU! See my web page for screenshots* * ---------------------------------------------------- * * Greetings, in no particular order, to: draobt, Abjab, megs, Vidness, & all * * the non-n00bs on the WW Forum :-)
