We have some news to pass on about the success of Crysis Warhead at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle; For any of you that don’t know, PAX is a game festival catering to tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. PAX includes dedicated tournaments and free-play areas, game-related concerts, panel discussions, exhibitor booths and more. PAX 2008 attracted nearly 60,000 gamers, making it the biggest one ever! "The Crysis Warhead kiosk was located at the dominant EA section of the exhibitor hall that was filled with booths displaying the latest and greatest from top game publishers and developers. PAX attendees had a chance to play through “Adapt or Perishâ€, the third level of the game and also got a glimpse of “Frozen Paradiseâ€, the subsequent level. “Adapt or Perish" showcases many of the new features in Warhead. It contains several breathtaking scripted events that immerse the player in the game world without sacrificing open-endedness. Players were able to try out a new vehicle, the hovercraft, through avalanches and alien spires that erupted from the ground all around. Some players chose to dump the hovercraft altogether and just enjoy the sandbox gameplay, engaging the various human and alien enemies (both using improved AI) along the way. Some of the new weapons in the level are the Nano Disruptor Grenades (great for disabling enemies in nanosuits) and the customizable and dual-wieldable micro SMG (AY69) that gives players an insane amount of firepower."
During the event, Crysis Warhead had a booth set up for gamers/participants to gather around; The Warhead booth was located in the main EA area at this years PAX. It was constantly filled with people eager to try out Crysis Warhead ahead of it's release on September 18th!
"Warhead was presented in all its visual glory on a low-cost machine, running at an average of 30 frames per second. This proved just how well the CryEngine 2 had been optimized, resulting in a very accessible game with improved experience. The feedback from the players was very enthusiastic, with the chair next to the Warhead computer being continuously occupied. Many gamers came to visit us repeatedly day after day, attesting to the addictive nature of Warhead. Those who played the game also received a Crysis Warhead t-shirt to wear with pride."
This is indeed awesome news! And with September the 18th being around the corner...I'll be saving my pennies and standing in the long line up so I can be sure that I will be playing this game as soon as possible! Below are some of the screenshots released, some are older, and some are new...enjoy!
