It seems that Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting a hardcore difficulty mode, which will feature no HUD or hints, among other changes to provide a extra challenging, but ultimately more rewarding and immersive experience.
The hardcore mode will completely disable all heads-up displays, UI elements and hints, but there's also a nice easy mode on the other end of the spectrum for those more interested in the story, which UI coordinator Alvin Liu commented on in an interview with WCCFtech;
The most fun one I think will be the Hardcore setting where we turn off the UI ... And that will be a real challenge for a lot of players. Also, at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that.
According to Liu, there's even easy mode specific guns, such as the "Smart Gun", which will auto-aim for you in easier modes.
It's not clear if it'll be possible to optionally disable the HUD regardless of difficulty setting, as that would provide a much more immersive experience for players without having to contend with super difficult gameplay, so here's hoping this will be modular to a degree.
